Elmer IS  Dr. Robbie Pearson, a member of the Murray State College business faculty, has been named a regional recipient of the
         2016 Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Teaching Excellence Award.  The ACBSP, with
         more than 13,000 world-wide members, promotes continuous improvement and recognizes excellence in the accreditation
         of business education programs around the world. It recognizes individuals each year who exemplify teaching excellence
 Teacher-of-the-Year  in the classroom.  After serving 20 years in the field of human resources, Pearson came to MSC in 2014.

 biological sciences instructor Michele Elmer
 was named college science teacher of the year
 by the Oklahoma Science Teachers Association
 (OSTA) at their summer conference in Tulsa.
    “Murray State College is extremely
 proud of and congratulates faculty member
 Michele Elmer on her statewide teaching award
 from OSTA,” MSC President Joy McDaniel said.
    “Michele brings to the classroom an
 amazing mix of student-centered teaching
 and a true love of learning.  She incorporates
 experiences from her time as a student into
 activities and lessons that allow students to
 challenge themselves both inside and outside
 the classroom,” McDaniel added.
    Elmer was nominated by Tishomingo
 Public Schools’ science teacher Shelena Thomas
 in a letter to the OSTA.  In nominating Elmer,
 Thomas described a dedication to teaching
 and a commitment to students, along with a
 description of Elmer’s rigor and organization
 in the classroom.   The nomination included a
 description of Elmer’s many accomplishments
 at Murray State College over the past seven
 years.
    “She has accomplished so much in the
 classroom and through international student
 travel outreach.  She sets high standards, and
 students work hard to meet her expectations,”
