YAKIMA VALLEY Founded in 1997 by Bob & Cathy
Yakima Valley is located in south-central Washington State. Designated in 1983, it was the first Betz. Today, Betz family Winery is
federally recognized wine-growing region in the Pacific Northwest. It also is the largest sub- headed by two families, both
appellation of the Columbia Valley, both in total size and wine-grape acreage. Within its complex committed to be true to our

RED MOUNTAIN
Red Mountain is the smallest appellation in Washington State at 4,040 acres. It was established in Canvasback
2001, and located on the eastern edge of the Yakima Valley. Its name is somewhat of a misnomer as Canvasback was born of the quest
it is neither red nor mountainous, with elevations ranging from 500 feet to 1,500 feet. to find great new terroir for
Red Mountain is typically Washington’s warmest growing region with broad, southwest-facing Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2011, the

slopes and daytime growing season temperatures that average 90 degrees Fahrenheit. It has an arid, conducted an extensive blind
desert climate, receiving an average of 6 to 8 inches of rainfall annually. Due to warm temperatures, tasting between Napa Valley and
red grape varieties dominate on Red Mountain. There are, however, limited plantings of white grape Washington State Cabernet
Sauvignons. They became
varieties as well, particularly Sauvignon Blanc. extremely excited about the
quality and character of the wines
from Washington State. Today,
Canvasback Portfolio has
