An Aesthetic, Nonconventional Art World Through the Transformed Human Form
The works of artist Choi Young-ran are warm, soft, ambiguous, fantastical, and dreamlike.
Within them are subtle traces of dreams, love, and happiness—though the artist does not consciously focus on these themes
while working, they are quietly embedded in the imagery.
Choi Young-ran’s primary subject is the human figure, with a particular emphasis on the nude.
She interprets and transforms the human body in her own unique way, distorting and reshaping it, exaggerating or minimizing
the significance of each part, thereby expanding its presence.
This technique, reminiscent of Modigliani's works, reveals how nonconformity-rather than formal structure—can evoke a deeper
aesthetic pleasure.
Such provocative approaches may at times feel unfamiliar or even jarring, eliciting resistance, yet through her distinct sense of
form, Choi opens up new artistic horizons.
In short, Choi Young-ran is building a world uniquely her own by challenging the walls of reality.
She is walking the path of a true master artist.
