작 가 노 트

오늘날의 作家(작가)는 無(무)에서 有(유)를 創造(창조)하는 것이 아니라
有(유)에서 無(무)를 찾아가는 것이다.
왜냐하면 人間(인간)으로 태어났다는 사실 그 자체가 위대한 창조이기 때문이다.
(1987년 발표)

나의 작업은 자연의 섭리를 바탕으로 삼는다.
그것은 곧 인간에게 무한한 욕망과 욕구를 절제하는 일이다.
그것이 곧 자유(自由)이며 人間生存(인간생존)의 길이다.
하늘로 향해 마음을 열고 서있는 無碍無垢(무애무구).
天眞爛漫(천진난만)한 直立(직립)된 군상(群像)은
인간성 상실 시대를 일깨우는 不動人間群(부동인간군)이다.
고도의 문명 발달로 인간적 삶의 본질을 위협하고
우리 시대의 병리로 짓눌린 소외된 인간 모습을 되돌아보려는 데 있다.
즐거울 때나 괴로울 때 마음의 대화로
천진(天眞)의 새로운 날, 오늘 이 순간을 “나는 누구인가?”에 대한 물음이며
새로운 나를 찾아 무(無)로 돌아가려는 채찍이기도 하다.
무(無)의 절대치는 자연인 것이며 마음의 절대치 또한 무(無)인 것이다.

Today’s artists believe that instead of creating new things,
they search for emptiness within what already exists.
Being born as a human is itself considered a great act of creation.

Their work follows the principles of nature, and restraining desire is seen as the path to freedom and sur vival.
They recall a pure and unobstr ucted state of mind, called 무애무구無碍無垢
(nothingness, purity, and freedom from obstacles).
A steadfast group of people symbolizes a desire to awaken a lost human essence in an era of
cultural decline.
Modern civilization threatens the true nature of life,
and we reflect on the social ailments and alienation that have arisen. Whether joyful or
sorrowful, in this moment, they ask “Who am I?” to find a new self.
Ultimately, they realize that the value of 무無(nothingness) is rooted in nature,
and true inner peace also resides in nothingness.
