Memories on Travel

Where shall I go today?
The starting point of my travel is the atelier
Sitting in front of a blank canvas, dreaming of a travel,

I squeeze paint onto the palette with a feeling of excitement.
Turkish blue, violet gray.

The travel called life.
The people I’ve met along the way,

the moments, landscapes, objects, and the various emotions I’ve encountered.
Plainly and honestly
I recall them, through painting.

The desolate landscapes, villages, and people I met while sketching outdoors.

I don’t always find the perfect subject, but I walk and walk, taking photos,
The roads where I stopped.

The portrait sessions with model P in the atelier,

immersed in portrait works, listening to "All the Music in the World."
Opening the atelier door, the unfamiliar encounters with still life objects
that momentarily came alive in the sunlight

What has changed as I continue to paint

is instead of striving to leave a mark on the journey of life,
I’ve come to simply see and capture that beauty in my heart.

They say if you’re happy here, it’s also a travel.
Following the memories of the winters before the pandemic,

when I used to travel to Europe,
I eventually see the people there.
Walking and walking, meeting happy people amidst beautiful landscapes
completes my journey.

I hope, within and beyond my paintings, people can be felt.
