When the medium I am working on - be it a canvas or a metal plate - shows the color that I exactly wants to express, I stops there. It takes
me 60-80 acts of overlaying and around six months to get there. The repetitive act of painting, as if to practice asceticism, is my way of
considering the preciousness of time and expressing my time and memories trapped inside me. To create eternal art pieces in this painfully
ephemeral world, I mixed the Korean lacquer ottchil with natural pigments. The Korean lacquer art ottchil is not only helpful in making the
pieces last for as long as a thousand years, but also making the color more vivid as time goes by.
