Benjamin Kowalczyk of Fayetteville, North Carolina, has been named co-coordi-

nator for Special Olympics Cumberland County, effective immediately, according
to Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC) president/CEO Keith L. Fishburne.

Kowalczyk serves as recreation supervisor for the City of Fayetteville and has managed the Special
Olympics Cumberland County Spring Games since 2023. He has also supported SONC at state-level

events, serving as assistant head of delegation at the 2023 and 2024 Summer Games and Fall Tourna-
ment.
As local program co-coordinator, Kowalczyk will assist in implementing Special Olympics activities
within Cumberland County by leading a volunteer committee that provides sports training, competition
opportunities, and health and wellness initiatives for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This
includes recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, increasing athlete participation, and raising funds
in support of the program.
