Accession to the Throne
After the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great on 13 October 2016 at Siriraj Hospital, the President of the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand who was Acting President of the National Assembly, invited Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to the throne on 1 December 2016 in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand (Temporary version) B.E. 2557 (2014), together with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2550 (2007).
