This SQA certificated course has been designed to specifically meet the needs
of playworkers/practitioners who would like to use outdoor spaces on a regular
basis, for learning and play in a setting with children.
This course recognises the value of woodlands as an integral part of the learning
process for children in their early years. It has been carefully designed to equip
playworkers/practitioners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to enable
children in their setting to play in local woods and other green spaces.
This award consists of one unit (SQA Certificate) with three outcomes,
• Forest Kindergarten Site (the place),
• Planning and Engaging with Children and Adults (the people),
• Setting Up and Leading Forest Kindergarten sessions (the pedagogy).
The aim of the course is to enable playworkers/practitioners to organise, safely
set up and facilitate forest kindergarten sessions.
