Short Term Disability Insurance - Unum
Your short-term disability benefits vary according to your length of service with Baseball, as shown on the
chart below. Benefits begin after your first five consecutive days of absence from work due to illness or a
non-work-related injury.
Your short-term disability benefits will continue until you are no longer medically disabled, or until you have
received the maximum benefit payable from the plan. During short periods of disability, your health care
coverage will remain in force.
Length of Service Plan Benefit
10+ years of Baseball service 100% of pay up to 26 weeks
One but less than 10 years of Baseball service 100% of pay up to 13 weeks
Less than one year of Baseball service Benefits as stipulated by State law
NY PFL
The New York Paid Family Leave Program pays part of your income while out of work caring for
your family. You may use PFL to bond with a new child within 12 months of birth, adoption or foster
placement. You can also use PFL to take care of a family member with a serious health condition. A
family member is defined as a spouse, parent-in-law, domestic partner, grandparent, child,
grandchild or parent.

LONG-TERM DISABILITY
If your disability continues beyond the duration of your short-term disability benefits, you may be eligible for the
Long-Term Disability (LTD) Plan. The LTD plan provides 60% of your monthly salary, up to a maximum of
$15,000 per month. Benefits are payable as long as your disability continues up to your Social Security normal
retirement age (or longer depending on when your disability begins).
There is also a Return to Work Incentive. If you return to work during the first 24 months of your disability, you
may be able to earn up to 100% of your pre-disability income even if you do not work full time. LTD benefits
may be reduced by income you received from other sources, such as Social Security, Worker’s Compensation,
pension plans or other group disability plans.
