• Public works was called to the area of Golden and College avenues to fix a broken water main at 7:24 a.m.

The Reedley Police Department handled 589 public-initiated and officer-initiated calls for service, with 100 dis- patched as Priority 1 calls. Officers completed 76 police reports, made 19 arrests and issued 14 traffic citations. There was six traffic collisions and no DUI cases, three fire calls and 21 medical aid calls.

• Outstanding warrant/ arrest, 1900 block of West Manning Avenue,

There were 115 calls for service and 2 traffic citations were issued.
• A male subject was ar- rested for trespassing in the 2700 block of Jensen Avenue. The subject had been cited for trespass- ing on several prior oc- casions. He was later booked into the Fresno County Jail.
• Officers responded to a business in the 1200 block of 9th Street for a report of a male subject asleep inside the busi- ness. The subject was arrested for trespassing. • A female subject en- tered the Sanger PD lobby to report she had been the victim of do- mestic violence. She was issued an emergency protective order and a follow up was conducted with the suspect.
• A woman in the 1000 block of Faller Avenue reported her sister has been missing since Aug. 7. A report was taken and the female was en- tered into a missing per- sons database.
• A family disturbance was reported in the 2200 block of Meierwood Av- enue. The disturbance reportedly involved a fa- ther and his two daugh- ters.
Tuesday, August 18
There were 163 calls for service and 13 traffic citations were issued.

Tuesday, August 18
• Misdemeanor warrant and felony warrant/ar- rest, no location, 10:42 p.m.
• Traffic stop/two ar- rests for outstanding warrants, Kings River Road and Dinuba Av- enue, 11:18 p.m.

• An Animal Control of- ficer issued a citation to a dog owner in the area of Faller and Tamarack avenues for leaving a dog unattended in a mo- tor vehicle during hot weather.

• During a traffic stop in the area of Academy and North avenues, a driver was found to have a out- standing warrant and was driving on a sus- pended license for DUI. While taking the driver into custody he also ex- hibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol. A breath test re- vealed he had a blood al- cohol level of .18. He was booked, cited and later released.
• Theft was reported in the 800 block of Annad- ale Avenue. Tools were reportedly stolen from the rear of a residence and the reporting party was able to provide video evidence of the incident. The investigation is on- going.
• Officers responded to the 1100 block of N Street for a report of a family disturbance over the assembly of a desk for school. A 14-year- old female reportedly hit her mother several times and caused a golf

Gladys Brewer
Gladys Brewer, was born on May 26, 1928 in Millville, New Jersey and passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in her sleep, at her home in Reedley, CA on Sunday, August 9, 2020. Her parents, Augustus and Edna (James) Meerwald lived in Millville, NJ until 1935. Augustus owned and Captained the AJ Meerwald, an Oyster Schooner. When the Oyster business collapsed due to the economy and an oyster disease, the family purchased a home and Chicken Farm in Cape May County. Edna became an Elementary School Teacher. The AJ Meerwald Schooner was sunk and forgotten. In 1989 it was rediscovered and donated to the Schooner Project and completely restored. It is now the
State of New Jersey’s Of cial Tall Ship.
Gladys met her future husband Robert (Bob) Brewer when they were Juniors’ in Middle Township High School. Bob served in the U.S. Navy 1 year, and after World War II, they married on November 1947. Gladys attended Business School at Rider College in 1946. Working Full Time as a Secretary she attended Rutgers University school nights and weekends majoring in Business and graduating in 1953. Robert completing his PHD at Rutgers University and also graduated in 1953. Robert was offered a position with the University of California, Riverside. He accepted the position and both moved to California where their new life and professional careers began.
Gladys and Bob lived in Riverside from 1953 – 1971. During that time period they grew their family by adding two Daughters, Cynthia & Robin. Gladys worked at the University of California, Riverside as an Executive Secretary for the Chairman of the Citrus Experiment Station from 1954 – 1957. Gladys went back to school in the late 1960’s and completed a Degree from Loma Linda University in Education. With their extended family still in New Jersey, cross country road trips were a common summer time adventure. These allowed memorable camping experiences, site seeing and visiting family and friends. In 1968 Bob was offered another life changing experience and the entire family moved to Nagoya, Japan for a Research Sabbatical. Upon returning from Japan in 1969, Gladys starting working as a Substitute Teacher in the Riverside County School District. In 1970 Bob was transferred to the Kearney Field Station in Reedley, CA and in 1971 the family began building a new home in the Reedley area, where they reside today. Gladys began teaching at Reedley High School as a Substitute Business Teacher until in 1972 Gladys was offered a Permanent Fulltime position as a Business Teacher at Orosi High School. While teaching at Orosi High she was instrumental in establishing a Sister City Exchange with Yamanashi, Japan, sharing her love of travel and cultural exposure. Gladys loved her students and remained a beloved teacher until her retirement in 1996. Over the next 24 years she would she keep in touch with former students, sharing in their many milestones.
Gladys is survived by her husband of 72 years Robert, daughter Cynthia
and husband, Jeffrey Sano of Northern Virginia, and daughter Robin and husband Kirk Caldwell, of Alpharetta, GA. She is also survived by two

• A known gang mem- ber, who is on parole for robbery, was contacted in the 800 block of Acad- emy Avenue and was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and transported to the Fresno County Jail.
• A grower reported in the Sanger Police De- partment lobby that a company who he invests frui with has been em- bezzling funds from him

Joey Morales thank you for the oldie cars, and for the compassion from Sterling & Smith Funeral Home, whom were so sympathetic during this process of saying goodbye to my loving husband. They were very helpful and never made us feel like we were bothering them. I am forever grateful and blessed to have met Ronald, Mario and Mark Romero, and all there wonderful helpers.
