Sanger man killed in crash on Highway 180 west of Fresno

A Kerman man faces charg- es of vehicular manslaughter after the big rig he was driv- ing west of Fresno on Aug. 19 crashed head-on with an SUV,
killing a Sanger man and seri- ously injuring a woman.
The Fresno County Coro- ner's Office on Aug. 20 identi- fied the victim as 68-year-old Joe Faz, who was a passenger in the SUV. The woman driving
the vehicle was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries. Her condition was unknown as of Aug. 25.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Harind-
er Singh, 57, was driving a Freightliner semi truck west on Highway 180 approach- ing Chateau Fresno Avenue at about 1:40 p.m. when he swerved into the eastbound lane into the path of a 2016

There were 138 calls for service and 4 traffic citations were issued.
• Officers responded to the 1700 block of Hume Avenue for a report of a violation of court order and criminal threats. The suspect had fled the scene prior to officers ar- riving but was apprehended a short distance from the scene and was arrested without inci- dent. He was first transported to a nearby hospital for a self- sustained injury to his hand and later transported to the Fresno County Jail.
• Officers responded to the 900 block of P Street for a report of a male subject who was approaching citizens and gesturing to them as if he was armed with a gun. Officers contacted the subject, who was wearing a red shirt and

• Fireworks was report- ed in the area of South

There were 126 calls for ser- vice and 16 traffic citations were issued.
• A male subject was contacted at Sanger City Park and was found to be wanted for an active misdemeanor narcotic warrant. An arrest report was completed. • A female reported that her grandfather had touched her inappropriately. The incident occurred in the County of Fres- no. A report was taken and the information was forwarded to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Of- fice for further investigation. • A report was taken in the 2100 block of Richard Av- enue regarding a male who
had been sending messages to his ex’s family, suggesting he might retaliate for a recent court decision regarding their separation.
• A male subject was arrested for DUI in the area of Jensen Avenue and P Street after he was stopped for failing to low- er his high beams for oncom- ing traffic.
Saturday, August 22
There were 112 calls for service and 4 traffic citations were issued.
• A mental health evaluation was conducted on a female in the 2500 block of Jensen Avenue. • A mental health evaluation was conducted on an adult male subject who was running into traffic in the area of Green- wood Avenue and 5th Street. He was reportedly suffering from a prior diagnosed mental condition and had not taken his prescribed medication.
• A traffic stop in the area of Faller Avenue and Simone Way led to the arrest of both driver and passenger after open con- tainers of alcohol were found in the vehicle. The drive was also later found to be in posses- sion of a narcotic substance.
• An officer observed a hand-
to-hand drug transaction in the area of Greenwood Avenue and 9th Street and stopped the vehicle involved to investigate further. During a search of the vehicle, the of- ficer located dangerous con- trolled drugs and packaging materials. The female driver was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on fel- ony charges.
• Officers responded to a large party in the 1700 block of East Metzler Avenue for a report of a disturbance be- tween two men. One man had suffered a head injury but was uncooperative with law enforcement.
• A family disturbance result- ing in battery was reported in the 300 block of Harrison Av- enue. The victim was report- edly uncooperative and the suspect had fled the scene prior to officers arriving. The suspect was later sopped in the area of Faller Avenue and 5th Street and was found to be under the influence. He was arrested for DUI.
• A violation of a court or- dered restraining order was reported in the 2600 block of Jenni Avenue.
• An attempted commercial
burglary was reported in the area of Academy Avenue and 4th Street.
Sunday, August 23

• Tools were reportedly sto- len from a vehicle in the 100 block of Brehler Avenue.
• A driver was arrested in the area of Academy Avenue and 8th Street for having an open container of alcohol, an open container of marijuana and was found to be wanted for a misdemeanor traffic warrant. • A female subject was con- tacted in the area of Annadale Avenue and Millwood Drive and was found to have an ac- tive misdemeanor warrant. In addition, she was arrested for being in possession of narcot- ics paraphernalia.
• A male subject was arrested in the 2700 block of Jensen Avenue after her exhibited signs of being under the in- fluence of a stimulant. He was later booked into the Fresno County Jail.
• A male subject was arrested on outstanding warrant in the area of Jensen and Rawson avenues.
