Tigers hang on late to regain Pump from FCC

It was probably the one of the most exciting finishes in the 42-game history of the Battle for the Pump between Reedley College and Fresno City College.
Fresno had 75 yards to fin- ish a potential game-winning drive with 1:59 remaining. They only covered 27, as Reed- ley regained the Pump with a exciting 34-30 victory on Nov. 13 at Reedley High School sta- dium.
Dinuba High product Josh Magana threw for 253 yards and four touchdowns as the Ti- gers finished the regular sea- son with a 7-3 record and a Val- ley Conference record of 3-2. Fresno City fell to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

Reedley College women's golf rebounds to finish 3rd in state

After a slow start on Nov. 14, the Reedley College women’s golf team re- bounded on Nov. 15 to finish third in the California Community College Athletic Association Women’s Golf Champion- ships at the Cypress Ridge Golf Club in Arroyo Grande.
Freshman Avery Foster (Clovis) fin-
ished second in the state, behind Arlene Salvador of Antelope Valley College. Foster fired rounds of 73-68–141, two strokes behind Salvador, who was at 68- 71–139.
Modesto Junior College, which fin- ished second behind Reedley in the NorCal Regionals earlier, won its sec- ond straight state title with a 318-307– 625, nine shots ahead of second place
Saddleback College.
The Tigers struggled as a team on
the first day to 332 score but Foster's one-over par 73 to keep the team from falling out of contention. Foster posted a 4-under 68 on Nov. 15 and five other Tiger players improved upon their first day scores to help the team to a score of 313; 645 for the tournament, edging out Orange Coast for third place.
Cal. Both teams await their postseason fate from the Cal- ifornia Community College Athletic Association.
The Tigers jumped out to a 21-7 halftime lead, equaling the most points allowed by Fresno City in the first half this season. Magana threw for 164 yards in the first 30 minutes of action, completing 5 of 7. The Dinuba High grad threw for two touchdowns to Shamar Kirk (Nashville,
Tenn.) for 79 and 45 yards in 3:36 of the the first quarter.
Fresno City got on the board on a 63-yard drive with all but 15 yards coming on the ground. Fred Green Jr. (Im- mokalee, Fla.) ran 38 of those yards, scoring from 5 yards out with 62 seconds left in the opening quarter.
Reedley’s third touchdown came on a 9-yard option pass from Jaylin Jackson (Tampa, Fla.) to Jaime Ramirez (Dinuba).
Reedley added to their lead seven plays after Damarcus Thompson blocked a punt and the Tigers recovered. Magana connected with Dallas Parker (Victorville) for the 28-yard score. But the Rams blocked the extra point.
The Tigers forced a Fresno punt and scored six plays lat- er to make it 34-7. Kirk pulled in his third touchdown of the night.
Two plays later, Fresno
started its comeback. Quar- terback Justin Holaday (Lem- oore) threw touchdown passes of 45 and 28 yards to Tabari Conerly (New Orleans) and Aaron Blancas (Selma) com- bined with a safety on a punt snap cut the Tiger lead to 34- 23 with 9:12 left.
Before the game, the Ti- gers honored the 15 sopho- mores who were playing their final regular season home game.

WATER POLO Reedley High girls edged in section semifinals
At Reedley on Nov. 11, the sec- ond-seeded Pirates (23-7) made a late charge but came up a goal short, dropping a 10-9 decision to No. 3 seed Righetti in the Division II semifinals.
Senior Morgan Gates fired in four of her team-high six goals as NYL champion Reedley game- ly tried to rally from a four-goal deficit. Freshman Hayley Lopez added two goals while sophomore Grace Tademy scored once.
Kayla Hernandez had four goals and Ella Green three scores for Righetti (15-8), which went on to capture the section crown with a 10-4 victory over Morro Bay on Nov. 13.

Paso Robles quar- terback Trevon Bride- well rushed for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns while pass- ing for 73 yards and an- other score. The Bears finished the season at 7-4.
Liberty 14, Immanuel 0
The visiting Hawks (6-5) avenged a loss to Immanuel earlier this season, getting a touchdown late in the second quarter and an insurance score in the final period while shut- ting down the Eagles' offensive attack.
Junior running back Mitchell Whaley rushed for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns, with the second score set up by an Immanuel fumble. The visitors also intercepted two Eagles passes in the second half.
It was a strong first season for the Eagles under new coach Hen- derson. The team heat- ed up from a slow start where they lost three of their first four games, running off a six-game win streak before Lib- erty ended the run. The Eagles had defeated the Hawks, 14-13, in Made- ra Ranchos on Oct. 8.
