SANGER HERALD 7A THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2018
New SUSD chief
Mattie, left, a sweet one year old German shepherd lady and Jimbo, bottom, a high energy Siberian husky boy are the Pets of the Week.
You can meet them this Saturday, from noon to 4 p.m. at the open house for the police and fire departments.
Knight will also be there. He's probably a shepherd/malamute mix, not quite a year old, who has lots of energy, likes to walk and go for car rides.
Call animal control officer Mario Irazo- qui at (559) 618-9071 or message the Sanger Animal Shelter Facebook page and leave your email address to find out more about the adoption process which will involve home checks.
The cost for each adoption will vary.
Let Mario know if you're interested in providing a temporary foster home for any of the shelter dogs or if you are able to donate a warm blanket or doggy sweater - cold weather is on the way.

Ryan Kilby is replacing Brad Pawlowski as the school district's chief operations officer (COO). It's the second time Kilby has replaced Pawlowski. Kilby took over as director of support services in November of last year as Pawloski moved into the COO spot when Richard Sepulveda retired. Pawlowski recently took a job outside the district and the school board at its Oct. 9 meeting unanimously confirmed Kilby as the new COO. "Kilby has the spirit of a leader and will be a champion for Sanger Unified students," associate superintendent Eduardo Martinez told the board. "This is the greatest team I have ever worked with," Kilby said. He was joined at the board meeting by his wife, Shea, and daughters Royce and Simone who are Quail Lake students.
Tom Flores will be back in Sanger on Oct. 27 for the 14th annual Raider Nation Blood Drive.
Tom will tour the annual Raider Nation Blood Drives in Sanger, Visalia and Fresno. The Sanger drive will be held at the high school from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. That's usually Tom's last stop, arriving from Visalia around 2 p.m.
Tom, who was inducted into the new Sanger High School Athletic Hall of Fame
last year, was the first Latino quarterback and first Latino coach of a Super Bowl cham- pion.
During his 11 years coaching the Raiders in Oakland and in Los Angeles, Tom led the team to wins in Super Bowls XV and XVIII.
Tom and former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka are the only two in NFL history to win a Super Bowl as a player, assistant coach and coach.
