With the exception of the Hoover rematch, the Pirates' remaining league schedule is road-heavy. Reedley played at McLane on Jan. 30, then returned to Fresno for a 6:30 p.m. con- test against NYL co-leader Fresno High on Friday, Feb. 1. The Pirates' lone league win was on Jan. 16, 68-61 over the Highlanders at RHS gym.
Before the 6:30 p.m. var- sity tipoff against Hoover on Feb. 4, the Pirates will honor seven senior players on the roster.
GIRLS BASKETBALL Two tight losses for RHS
Despite two big scoring games from freshman Miah Paz, Reedley High dropped a pair of tight NYL decisions. First, the PIrates couldn't rally late in a 59-54 home loss to Hoover on Jan. 22, then were outscored 15-8 in the final quarter of a 45-37 loss at Roosevelt on Jan. 24.
Paz scored 23 points and collected five rebounds and seven steals against the Patriots, then finished with 22 points and three boards against Roosevelt. Junior Madison Haney added nine points and four rebounds against Hoover while se- nior Clare McGahan had four points and 11 rebounds against Roosevelt.
Reedley has home games remaining with Fresno (Thursday, Jan. 31) and Senior Night against Sunnyside (Wednesday, Feb. 6). The Pirates are at Hoover on Monday, Feb. 4. All games are scheduled to tip off at 6:30 p.m.

Reedley heads to Cuperti- no on Tuesday, Feb. 5, to face the DeAnza College Dons (1-1) in a 2 p.m. start.
The Tigers started the new season on Jan. 25 with a 6-1 loss to Laney College in Oakland. Reedley was outhit 17-4 and committed three er- rors. Their only run came in the seventh after back-to-back doubles by Nick Martinez (who also had a single) and Henry Degman.
On Jan. 26, Reedley opened up a 5-1 lead through five-and-a-half innings before dropping an 8-5 decision to College of Marin in a contest played at Laney.
Mitchell Silvas blasted a two-run homer in the fourth made it 4-1 before the Tigers added another run in the fifth on a bases-loaded walk.
But Marin scored seven times in the next three innings against the Tiger bullpen, tal- lying three runs in both the sixth and seventh.
Sierra College improved to 3-0 with an 8-1 win over the Tigers on Jan. 27 at Skyline College in San Bruno. All of the Wolverines runs came in the first four innings. Tiger starter Masyn Ashworth gave up just one hit in the first two innings but allowed five runs after walking four and hitting three batters.

closed out North Yosemite League dual action with a road match at Roosevelt on Jan. 29. The Pirates will compete at the North Yosemite League tournament on Friday, Feb. 1, beginning at 9 a.m. at Sunny- side High in Fresno.
"Orange Cove is a great team with some great wres- tlers. They have been work- ing hard and came ready to battle," said RHS coach Isidro Arroyo. "But we are continu- ing to work hard and get bet- ter day by day. You know what they say: 'Just a minor setback
for a major comeback.'"
In the girls match, Reed- ley won three of the four contested matches includ- ing pins from Esther Padilla (189), Odalis Banda (160) and Kamari Perez (170). Julissa Martinez had Orange Cove's lone win on the match with a
pin at 106 pounds.

Baseball loses three on the road
After dropping the first three games of the season in the Bay Area last weekend, the Reedley College Tiger baseball team is scheduled to host four games this week- end, weather permitting.
The homestand begins at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, against the Bakersfield Col- lege Renegades, who started the new season with two wins. The Tigers open play in the College of the Sequoias Tournament on Friday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. against Golden West (0-2) before a 4 p.m. matchup with Mission (0-0- 1). On Saturday, Feb. 2, the Tigers are scheduled to host Napa Valley (0-2) at 2 p.m.
