A proposed nine-hole disc golf course took a step closer to becoming a reality after the Dinu- ba City Council voted to approve the project on Sept. 8.
After reviewing the existing parks, staff de- termined that KC Park would be best suited for such a use. The golf course is a good addition to the city’s recreation program. The park is 18 acres with ample space for the course without impacting other activi- ties. The game is growing in popularity with over 5,000 courses throughout the United States.
“Through commu- nity outreach, local citi- zens voiced their desire to see new recreational activities in Dinuba,” stated Parks and Com- munity Services Direc- tor, Stephanie Hurtado. “One of the popular ac- tivities expressed was Disc Golf Course.”
Hurtado added disc golf is a great way to provide residents of all ages an opportunity to be physically active while having fun.

Sanger High's fall football schedule has fi- nally been released and the Apaches will enter the new year with a ten-game schedule, beginning on Jan. 8. Their schedule consists of five road games and five home games.
Their first game will be a 6:30 p.m. road game against Div. 1 Clovis High on Jan. 8. They will follow their season opener against the Cougars with three con- secutive home games. The Apaches’ home opener will be against Fresno High on Jan. 15. They will then host Clovis East on Jan. 22. Both games have a kickoff time of 6:30 p.m.
Capping off their three- game home stretch is a matchup with Lemoore High on Jan. 29, a game slated to start at 7:30 p.m.
The Apaches then hit the road for two games, beginning with a three- hour drive on Feb. 5 to take on Acalanes High of Lafayette, Ca. The city lies about two hundred miles north, between the cities of Oakland and Concord. The game against Acalanes High is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
After the long trip north, Sanger will use the next week to recover with a bye week before travel- ing to Fresno on Feb. 19 to take on the Edison Tigers in their first league matchup.
League games will con- tinue on Feb. 26 and Mar. 5 with two home games. The Apaches’ first league game at Tom Flores Stadium will be against Madera. The next week they take on
Bullard High. Both games have a start time of 6:30 p.m.
The Apaches are sched- uled to close out the season with two road games in mid-March. They travel to Madera on Mar. 12 to take on Madera South and wrap up the regular season on the road against San Joa- quin Memorial High on Mar. 19. Both final games are scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
All dates and times for this season’s football sched- ule are tentative and may change based on pandemic regulations.
Valley teams are ex- pected to begin practicing for the upcoming football season in December.
According to Sanger High Athletic Director Brian Penner, schedules for girls and boys volleyball, girls and boys water polo and cross country are close to being finalized. Mid Val- ley Times will publish those schedules once they are re- leased.
