deal with UnWired Broadband

The city of Dinuba approved a lease agreement with UnWired Broadband Inc. for the use of the Centennial Park water tower.
UnWired Broadband is an in- ternet service provider that of- fers internet services to rural and underserved areas in the Central Valley. They are proposing a lease agreement for the use of the wa- ter tower for mounting wireless radio equipment. The equipment will be used to provide wireless broadband internet service to residents in Dinuba, and the sur- rounding area.
The company broadcasts a wireless internet signal using a small radio and antenna placed at commercial or residential lo- cations which connects wireless- ly to their broadcast antenna. UnWired requires the use of tall structures such as water tow- ers to place their radio antenna high above other structures and trees.

A wanted felon was captured on Sept. 27 af- ter attempting to evade Sanger police officers by leading them on a short vehicle pursuit through town and then crashing into a tree, say police.
According to the Sanger Police Depart- ment, officers attempt- ed to stop a vehicle for a speeding violation in the area of Academy Avenue and 7th Street but the vehicle report- edly refused to comply and instead led officers on a vehicle pursuit that traveled west on Jensen Avenue.
The vehicle, which officers later discov- ered was driven by 33-year-old Mark Leon Perez of Fresno, ended up crashing into a tree in the area of Jensen

on foot but was quickly apprehended by Sanger police officers.
During a search of the vehicle, officers lo- cated a loaded revolver handgun. Officers also discovered that Perez was a wanted felon out of Fresno, wanted for multiple felony charges including assault with a firearm on a person.
He was arrested and later booked into the Fresno County Jail on numerous felony charges, including felo- ny evading and various weapons charges.

• A bike was reported stolen in the 100 block of West Sierra Way at 4:39 p.m.
• A reckless driver was reported in the 1400 block of West El Monte Way at 6:33 p.m. It was reported multiple trucks were breaking traction and speeding in a parking lot.

The lease payment for the term is at $1,600 per month, plus $200 per month for reimbursement of util- ity costs. Rent will be increased by 10 percent on Oct. 1 at each extended term that the lease agreement remains in effect.
The council also reappointed Maria McElroy to the Tulare County Measure R Citizens’ Over- sight Committee representing the city of Dinuba. McElroy, whose term expired in June, had sub- mitted a letter requesting that she would like to continue serving on the committee. Terms are for two years and appointees may serve a total of eight years.
