Immanuel volleyball falls in semifinals, Reedley eliminated in quaterfinals

The Reedley High and Immanuel High vol- leyball teams came up short in their quests for spots in the Central Sec- tion Division 3 champion- ship round.
The ninth-seeded Pi- rates (25-14) were swept in three seats by the top seed and eventual cham- pion San Joaquin Memo- rial Panthers in Fresno on Nov. 5. Scores were 25-11, 25-18 and 25-15. Number three seed Im- manuel (24-11) swept No. 6 Morro Bay High by scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-19 on Nov. 5, before falling in three sets to No. 2 Righetti by scores of 25-22, 25-10, 25-21.
Immanuel utilized a balanced attack in the win over Morro Bay. Ca- rissa Hall had 12 kills; MacKenzie Coats had 11 kills, eight digs and three ace serves; Brooke Hatch had 14 assists and 10 digs while Olivia Barsoom fin- ished with 14 assists.
Coats and Hall, two of nine returning seniors on the IHS roster, collected seven and four kills, re- spectively, in the loss to Righetti. Hall had a block while Barsoom delivered a pair of ace serves. Bar- soom and Hatch each had nine assists.
San Joaquin Memorial went on to defeat Righet- ti in a thrilling five-set section finals match at College of the Sequoias gym in Visalia on Nov. 9. Scores were 22-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-13 and 16-14.
Both teams advanced to the CIF Southern Re- gional playoffs.

Orosi High junior wide receiver Aidan Rodriguez turned in a solid performance dur- ing the Cardinals' Division VI first round playoff game against Granite Hills. Rodriguez finished with three receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 55 yards on four carries and had two rushing touchdowns.

Granite Hills used a trick play off a punt formation that covered 59-yards to tie the game at 7-all.
The Cardinals moved ahead 13-7 on a 38-yard run by Rodriguez, who also added another TD for a 19-7 lead. Granite Hills manage to get within seven points on a 28-yard field goal by junior kicker Max Jimenez.
Rodriguez turned in a solid all-
around performance as he had four catches four 55 yards with two TD’s and added 90 yards on three carries while racking up 125 on three kickoff returns.
Martinez nearly averaged 10 yards a carry as he finished with 203 yards on 21 carries and three scores while Arciga wrapped up the game with 86 yards on eight carries and five tackles on defense.
The Cardinals’ Juan Flores and Andrew Arechiga each shared team- high honors with 6.5.
Bulldog's Jacob Wright named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week

For the second time in program his- tory, Fresno State Wrestling has a Big 12 Wrestler of the Week after redshirt sophomore 157-pounder Jacob Wright was named the Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week on Nov. 5.
Wright won all three of his duals at the AFC Duals/Battle on the Midway in San Diego. The redshirt sophomore from Dinuba, picked up a 9-6 win over Garrett Model of Wisconsin, a 15-8 win over Scout Skidgel of Navy and wrapped up his day with a 7-2 win over No. 23 Lucas Weiland of Army.

Wright, who went 23-11 as a redshirt fresh- man last year and finished fifth at 157 lbs at the Big 12 Championship, outscored his opponents 31- 16 and finished
with 10 take-
downs on the day.
Fresno State will host Rutgers to-
morrow night and Northern Colorado on Nov. 30.
Sanger High girls play for Division II tennis title

After going 10-0 in league to win back-to-back CMAC titles, the Sanger Apache girls tennis team entered the CIF Division II playoffs as the No. 1 seed.
In the playoffs, after receiving a first round bye, the team defeat- ed Templeton on Nov. 5 (7-5) and then Atascadero on Nov. 7 (6-3). That set up a home match against St. Joseph of Santa Maria on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Results from Tuesday's match were not available at press time. Look for an update in next week's Mid Valley Times.
