after kick returner Brian Campbell gave his team great starting position near midfield. Their drive ended with a quarterback keeper by Magaña from 1-yard out. Lopez’s point-after gave Di- nuba a 10-7 lead.
Lopez would again kick one through the uprights at the end of the first half to give his team a 13-7 lead.
Dinuba then tool full advantage of their opening second half drive. Starting again near midfield, the Emperors went 58 yards to pay dirt. This time, Dinuba running back Angel Lopez took a swing pass over the right pylon for a 5-yard touchdown catch. A two-point conver- sion gave Dinuba a 21-7 lead.
Sanger, meanwhile, had to dig deep into their roster after replacement quarterback Nick Wise suffered a bro- ken clavicle late in the first half. Wise entered the Sanger
offense last week
after starting quar-
terback Noel Collazo
went down in a loss
to San Joaquin Memo-
rial, and backup John
Pena was unavailable
due to a knee injury
he sustained earlier
in the season against
Madera.
In for Wise was Jo-
saiah Duarte, who was
moved up from Sanger’s Junior Varsi- ty team for playoffs. Duarte managed to put together a scoring drive for the Apaches early in the fourth quarter. His wheel route pass to Agina up the Dinuba sideline helped set up the Apache’s next score – a 17-yard scamper by Agina to bring Sanger to within a score at 21-14.
“To be thrust into that moment, against a great team, I think he did very well,” said Sanger head football coach Jorge Pena.
But again, Dinuba responded on their ensuing possession, this time putting to- gether a 63-yard scoring drive that was also capped off by a Magaña quarter-
back sneak, this time from 3-yards out. Sanger got the ball back with just over seven minutes remaining and had an opportunity to tie the game after an- other pass to Agina took the Apaches to the Dinuba 7-yard line with just over 5
minutes to go.
But the Emperor defense again held
strong and forced a fourth and goal at the 13-yard-line. A pass attempt from Duarte to Apache’s Jose Lunar was then broken up in the end zone.
Taking over on downs, Dinuba used a steady dose of Campbell and Lopez to chew up yards, and the time, to seal the victory.
“Dinuba came to play,” Pena said of the Emperors. “You’ve got to give them credit for the game they played... Their quarterback (Magaña) was on his game. He was outstanding.”
Pena added about his own team, “I’m very proud of our guys and how they played this season.”
Magaña finished with 181 yards on 17 of 23 passes com- pleted. In addition to his two touchdown runs, he also threw for one touch- down. Amador and team- mate Gabriel Moreno led Dinuba receivers with 5 catches for 53 yards and 4 catches for 61 yards,
respectively.
Leading rushers for
Dinuba were Campbell, with 78 yards, and Lo- pez, who finished with
72 yards.
The Emperor’s defense was led by
Johnny Garcia, who had 11 tackles (5 solo, 6 assists) and Alan Mendoza with 10 tackles (6 solo, 4 assists). Senior Ja- cob Marroquin had two sacks.
The road doesn’t get any easier for the No. 13 Emperors. Tomorrow night they travel to Bob Mathias Stadium in Tulare to take on No. 5 Tulare Western. The Mustangs went 9-2 during the regu- lar season, beating out Tulare Union and going undefeated in league play to take the North Yosemite League title. Their two losses came against Redwood (27- 22) and Hanford (36-28).

Over the last two seasons, the Reed- ley College Tiger football team has compiled an 18-2 record and has only one loss in 10 road games.
The latest win on Saturday night in Monterey netted Reedley a second straight American Golden Coast Con- ference championship. It came against a previously undefeated team.
The 58-38 road-win over the Mon- terey Peninsula College Lobos im- proved Head Coach Eric Marty’s Ti- gers to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in confer- ence play while MPC fell to 8-1 and 4-1.
With the victory, Reedley will prob- ably get a rematch with the undefeated Foothill College Owls for the Northern California American Division cham- pionship in Los Altos Hills on Nov. 23. Reedley is expected to receive the bowl bid on Sunday.
But first things first. The Tigers will end the regular season this Saturday at Reedley High School’s Sal Gonzalez Field with a 1 pm matchup against the Hartnell College Panthers. Last Satur- day, Hartnell improved to 3-2 in confer- ence action and 6-3 overall with a 20-3 road win over Los Medanos.
“I’m really proud of the way our players and staff prepared for such a huge challenge,” said Coach Marty. “Having to go to undefeated MPC to win the conference and then just com- pleting their butts off for four quar-
ters to get the job done. I’m extremely proud of our team, our growth together, and what we were able to accomplish tonight.”
The list of individual stars for the Tigers was a long one. Quarterback Armon Hickson complet- ed 12 of 15 passes for 192 yards and five touchdowns.
Tight ends John Calderon (Dinuba) and Daniel Baca each caught two scor- ing passes while River Walker and An- dy Pierre-Antoine pulled in one each.
Running back Jamon Chambers had another huge night, finishing with a season best 213 yards rushing on 23 carries (an average of 9.3 yards per at- tempt) and two touchdowns. He also threw a 15-yard scoring pass to Calde- ron.
The Tiger defense recorded eight quarterback sacks, four by Okiki Olo- runfunmi. They finished with 10 tack- les for a loss. Linebacker Paul Moreno led the way with 11 total tackles, eight solo while Jay Vance had 3.5 tackles for a loss
Reedley broke a 21-21 tie with 9:23 left in the first half on a 31-yard touch- down run by Chambers before leading 38-24 at halftime.
Monterey Peninsula pulled to within 51-38 with 1:49 remaining before Cham- bers closed out the scoring 20 seconds later with a 66-yard touchdown run. Reedley is currently fourth in the state and first in Northern California in scor- ing at 47.6 points per game.

Though held to just 38 yards rushing on Friday night, Sanger High's Kosi Agina had a couple of big catches to help keep the Apaches in the game. This one came in the fourth quarter on a wheel-route and helped set up his second rushing touchdown to pull Sanger to within a score, at 21-14.
