Sanger FFA plays host to 'Winter Lights' drive thru
Sanger FFA hosted its annual Winter Lights Drive Thru on The Farm on Dec. 16-17 at Sanger High School. The event ran for 90 minutes each night, and visitors had the chance to take in the farm and FFA lights, shop for boutique items and enjoy food.
ABOVE: Santa Claus was collecting donations for Toys for Tots and Toiletries for Veterans at the drive thru event.
FAR AND NEAR RIGHT: Decorated agricultural vehicles were deco- rated for the event. Vehicles entered through the MPR parking lot at the high school.

Michael Dean Clary
Michael Dean Clary
of Dinuba died Dec. 12 in Dinuba. He was 71.
Mr. Clary, who was born in Selma, worked as a mechanic for more than 40 years.
He is survived by two daughters and 15 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at the Quail Lakes Club House in Clovis.

Adan Martinez Her-
nandez of Cutler died Nov. 14 in Visalia. He was 67.
Mr. Hernandez worked as a farm la- borer.
He is survived by his wife Alejandra, two daughters, six sons and 13 grandchildren.
A funeral mass was held Dec. 1 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cut- ler, followed by a grave- side service at Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba.

Estelita Magao
Estelita Magao of Orosi died Dec. 6 in Visalia. She was 76.
Mrs. Magao worked as a lead person.
She is survived by her husband Amor Magao Sr., two sons, two brothers and one sister.
A funeral mass was held Dec. 22 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cutler. Interment was at Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba.

The new nickname has drawn a mixed re- action from residents.
While there are numer- ous supporters, a num-
ber of residents on social media have criticized the school's choice of a name.
"What happened to 'One town, one team, one tribe?'" was one com- menter's complaint. An- other called it an "elemen- tary school name" while others were unhappy with the fact the nickname was not connected in any way to Sanger High School's Apaches theme.
The logo is in the process of being incor- porated into the cam- pus, which currently is home to freshman and sophomore students.
Also at the Dec. 14 SUSD meeting, three educators were recog- nized for promotions to new positions, They are Jeremy Alvarado (prin- cipal at Wilson Elemen- tary), Daniel Cuellar (vice principal at Wash- ington Academic Middle School) and Mark Cole- man (director of sup- port services for the district).
