Staff Report
A 20-year-old Reedley man was fatally shot March 16 in front of an apartment complex in central Parlier.
The shooting was Parlier’s first homicide in 2018.
Jorge Reynoso was identi- fied as the shooting victim by the Fresno County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s office on March 19. Sheriff’s homicide detec- tives have taken over the in- vestigation at the request of the Parlier Police Department, according to sheriff’s spokes- man Tony Botti.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on March 16, Parlier officers re- sponded to a report of multi- ple shots fired near the Quail Run Apartments at 13500 Tuolumne St. When officers arrived, they found Reynoso lying in the driveway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives with the sher- iff ’s crime scene unit can- vassed the area collecting evidence and talking to po-

Fresno business targeted in YP scam

The Better Business Bureau division for Central California and Southern Cali- fornia’s Inland Empire counties is issuing a warning to businesses regarding a fake YP (Yellow Pages) collections scam that has hit one Fresno business owner.
All Seasons Pro Painting contacted the BBB after receiving multiple invoices out of the blue for YP services over the course of two-and-a-half months. One in- voice was for more than $1,800 for YP Service and a late fee, and the other was for nearly $1,800 for a one-year premium listing from YP Collections. Both these in- voices have been proven to be fake. This company had never done business with YP before, and these invoices were sent in an attempt to collect money from this business, and maybe others.
After the invoices, multiple phone
calls followed. The scam artists imposed scare tactics on this business in an at- tempt to collect money from them for something they did not owe. They threat- ened legal action and told owner Jesus Rodarte that they would take him to court unless he paid now.
One number that called was 888-626- 9073. One Google search prompted mul- tiple reports of people receiving the same type of invoice scam.
One company, Digital Ad Experts from Walnut in the Bay Area claimed to be an accredited business with the BBB during the collection call. Digital Ad Ex- perts actually has an F rating with the BBB, which is the lowest possible rating in the system.
The second collections invoice re- ceived was from YP Collections, and even had the famous YP walking fin- gers logo. This invoice came from the
address 3379 Peachtree Rd, in Atlanta, Ga. This address actually is a virtual of- fice in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta.
The scammers had the company’s ac- count information on hand, and told All Seasons Pro Painting that unless they pay, their card would be charged. The scammers also said they would offer a discount and only charge them $1,000 if they pay now.
The scammers could never pro- vide the business owner with a signed contract, or authentication of services, whether verbal or written.
If you are unsure if something is a scam, contact the nearest Better Busi- ness Bureau office for verification. If you do fall victim to a scam, contact the BBB, state Attorney General’s office, or the Federal Trade Commission toll-free at (877) 382-4357.

Multiple shots were fired, Botti said, and Reynoso was struck an unknown number of times.
Botti said there is no de- scription of the suspects. It’s not
domestic violence and their families before closing in 2016. Residents of the River- view Estates and the Reedley Mobile Home Park have op- posed the project since it was
known if the suspect or suspects were on foot or in a car when firing the shots. No motive has been determined, he said.
