After recording three wins over Porterville College last week, the Reed- ley College Tiger baseball team faces three key Central Valley Conference games with the College of the Sequoias Giants this week.
Both the Giants and Tigers are 5-1 in the CVC while Fresno City is 3-0 in conference play. COS has an overall re- cord of 17-2 while the Tigers are 13-4.
The three-game series with COS begins in Reedley on March 3 with a 2 p.m. start. The Thursday game in Visalia begins at 2 p.m. before the se- ries finale in Reedley on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Saturday starter for COS is expected to be Benjamin Petersen, who pitched a perfect game against West Hills Coalinga last Saturday.
Reedley swept a three-game series with Porterville College, outscoring the Pirates 44-8. The most exciting game
came on Tuesday, when the Tigers took a 6-0 lead into the eighth inning before Porterville scored five runs. Tiger clos- er Cameron Gallardo came in and got a six-out save, striking out five of the seven batters he faced to preserve the 6-5 win.
Isaiah Haddad started a blistering week at the plate with a fourth inning solo home run.
In Reedley on Thursday, Haddad had five hits, scored five runs and drove in four more in a 19-2 victory. Jesse Holguin and Danny Gamez each had three hits and nine different Tigers drove in runs.
On Saturday in Porterville, Had- dad had two more hits as 10 Tigers had RBI's. Tresten Bumutay drove in three. Freshman catcher Jordan Smith hit a two-run homer. Alex Escobar al- lowed only two hits and an unearned run in seven innings to get the win.

The Sanger Apaches’ varsity base- ball team improved to 4-2 on the season after shutting out Selma High, 3-0, on Feb. 29 in Fowler.
Getting the win for Sanger was sophomore pitcher Joey Rodriguez, who pitched five innings while striking out six batters and allowing only two hits. Getting the save for the Apaches was senior Nathan Padilla, who closed out the final two innings with two strikeouts while allowing no hits. Padilla also went 1 for 2 at the plate, had two RBI’s and a run.
Sanger High junior Mason Lopez went 2 for 3 at the plate with a triple and a run scored.
The Apaches dropped their second
game of the season on Feb. 26, falling 1-0 against Lemoore.
The team was back in action on March 4 as they hosted rival Reedley. Results from that game were not avail- able at press time.
Sanger will open league play on March 13 with a home game against Edison. The Apaches will once again be chasing San Joaquin Memorial for the league title this year after finishing last year just a game behind the Panthers in league standings. Last year the Apaches finished with a 22-7-1 overall record and went 12-3 in the CMAC. The Panthers finished with a 27-5 overall record and won league with a 13-2 record. The two teams also met in the Central Section’s Division 2 championship game, where the Apaches fell to the Panthers 3-2.

The Lady Tiger softball team won four out of five games last week. But the most important win came on Feb. 27, a 2-1 victory over Fresno City Col- lege in the Central Valley Conference opener.
Amanda Beltran preserved the win over FCC by striking out a Ram with the bases loaded. Sam Lizaola drove in both Reedley runs with a fourth inning double.
Reedley improved to 8-11 as they concluded a seven-game stretch with
non-conference doubleheaders with Gavilan and Cabrillo Colleges. On Feb. 25, the Tigers split a pair with the Rams, winning the first game 3-1 before dropping the nightcap 6-1. On Saturday, Reedley swept a twinbill with Cabrillo by scores of 6-2 and 11-3.
The Lady Tigers travel to Coalinga to face West Hills for a 1 p.m. double- header on March 3 before hosting the College of the Sequoias on Thursday, March 5 at 2 p.m. Taft comes to Reed- ley for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Tues- day, March 10.

Reedley High School will host seven other schools in the 2020 Ja- vier Bejar Memorial Swing Into Spring varsity softball tournament on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7 at RHS softball fields.
The Pirates (1-4) will be joined in the tourney field by Mission Oak, Mt. Whitney, Coalinga, Sierra Pacific, Liberty-Madera Ranchos, Golden West and Orange Cove. Pool play games are at 11 a.m., 1, 3 and 5 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates play Mis- sion Oak at 1 p.m. and Coalinga at 5 o’clock.
There will be a special ceremony before the 5 p.m. games.
On Saturday, pool play wraps up
with 9 and 11 a.m. games. Pool vs. Pool play then starts at 1 p.m., with championship and third place games at 3 p.m.
Reedley’s Saturday pool play game is at 9 a.m. against Mt. Whit- ney. Matchups for the pool vs. pool games will be determined by tourney record.
The Pirates dropped two non- league road games last week, losing 14-8 to Washington Union on Feb. 25 and 8-1 against Tulare Union on Feb. 27.
Before hosting the Swing Into Spring tourney, Reedley will be home to play Orange Cove High in a 5:30 p.m. non-league game on Thursday, March 5.
