This year's 55th annual Reedley Fiesta will be unique because of COVID-19. Here are some of the changes:
• The annual Fiesta Parade on Saturday, Oct. 10, will be a "reverse" drive-thru parade format. There will be a flag raising event shortly before 10 a.m. in front of City Hall featuring Reedley Veterans. The public then will drive their vehicles along G Street starting at North Avenue, passing parade floats and displays. Grand Marshal, Sister Lucy Cassarino of St. La Salle Catholic
School, and Fiesta King and Queen, Tino and Alma Alvarez, will be posted up in separate tents in front of Pioneer Park.
• The coronation of the King and Queen will be at 5:45 p.m., followed by the Frog Jump contest at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. Both events will be livestreamed on the Greater Reedley Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page.
• There will be one vendor on Friday, and three food vendors on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Reedley Commuinity Center parking lot.

As of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, there had been 29,136 confirmed cases (9,385 active) of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) out of 301,062 tests (9.8 percent) in Fresno County, with 406 deaths and 107 currently hospitalized. Among Mid Valley Times cities, Reedley leads the way with the most positive cases at 1,403 while Sanger is at 1,369 cases; Parlier was listed with 1,100 cases and Orange Cove had 667 cases. Del Rey was at 119 cases while Fowler had 236 cases. Squaw Valley and Dunlap had 17 and five positive cases, respectively. The county
reported that 19,000 of the positive cases (65.8 percent) had recovered.
In Tulare County, there were 16,607 confirmed cases (606 active) of COVID-19 with 265 deaths and 34 hospitalized as of midday on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Breakdowns by cities/regions show 1,827 cases in Dinuba, 599 in Orosi, 348 in Cutler, 82 in Traver, 13 in the rural area south of Reedley and four in the rural area southeast of Orange Cove.
A total of 15,736 people (94.8 percent) had recovered from the virus in Tulare County.
