Reedley College's 28th Annual Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet to be held Saturday, Aug. 3
MVT Staff Report
Tickets remain avail- able for the 28th annual Reedley College Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame banquet on Saturday, Aug. 3, in the college cafeteria.
This year’s class of in- ductees are football play- ers Anthony Montgom- ery (2003-2005) and Riley Young (2001-2003), volley- ball coach Nobi Kitaoka (1980-2002, 2017-present), volleyball player Jessica Baley-Quinn (1995-1997), basketball player Abbi Millwee-Riddle (1998- 2000) and baseball player Curtis Pasma (2003-2005).
Here are brief pro- files of the Class of 2019 inductees:
(Profiles for Anthony Montgomery, Riley Young and Nobi Kitaoka ran in last week's edition of the Mid Valley Times)
• Jessica Baley-Quinn, volleyball — Baley-Quinn starred for two season as a setter who flawlessly
ran the offense as the Tigers twice advanced to the state tournament. During that time, the team went 37-8 with four of those eight losses com- ing at the 1996 and 1997 state tournaments.
As a freshman, Baley- Quinn had a career-high 60 assists in a match with Fresno City College as Reedley College posted the first perfect Central Valley Conference sea- son record in school his- tory. She led the state in assists as the Tigers fin- ished fourth in state. Her sophomore season, Baley- Quinn helped the team to a 24-match conference win streak. She had 24 as- sists in a regional playoff win over Taft College.
• Abbi Millwee-Rid- dle, women’s basketball — The point guard was named Central Valley Conference co-Most Valu- able Player as she led Reedley College to the 1999-2000 CVC title, the
colleges first conference crown since 1988 and second in school history. She scored 15 points – in- cluding a 35-foot buzzer beater at the end of the first half — while adding seven rebounds and five assists in a 69-50 Nor- Cal playoff victory over Marin College. The Tigers finished the season with a 24-9 record.
As a freshman, Mill- wee-Riddle ran the point for an 18-13 RC squad that was ranked as high as 14th in the state at one point. She served as team captain and was team MVP.
• Riley Young, foot- ball — Young became one of the most dominant linebackers in program history after recovering from a torn ACL in his knee, an injury he suf- fered in the first game of the Tigers’ 2002 national championship season. He helped lead RC to a 9-2 record and Central Val- ley Conference title in 2003 while earning CVC Defensive Player of the Year and Region II first team all-state honors.
