Roosevelt to visit Apaches this Friday, Immanuel FB delayed a week
MVT Staff Report
Sanger High scrambled to fill an unexpected hole in its football schedule, and on Aug. 24 announced that Roosevelt High will replace Fresno High as an opponent for Friday, Aug. 27, at Tom Flores Stadum. Varsity kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
It was announced on Aug. 21 that the Warriors dropped from the game, and Apaches AD Brian Penner arranged with Roosevelt to play this Friday. The Rough Riders' scheduled opener on Aug. 20 at Immanuel High was canceled after the Ea- gles' 26-player roster was shortened further by injuries and illness.
Sanger comes off a season-opening 35- 12 defeat to Clovis High, and with the rescheduled game has the opportunity to quickly bounce back. Roosevelt (0-1) re- scheduled a game for Aug. 20, and dropped a 17-6 decision against Strathmore High.
Immanuel has two open dates later this

PREPS ROUNDUP
MVT Staff Report
Fresno State opens its 2021 football season this weekend, hosting the University of Con- necticut Huskies in a ground- breaking event for both schools.
For the Bulldogs, the 11 a.m. kickoff on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Bulldog Stadium marks the first morning kickoff in the his- tory of the stadium. It's also the
100th season of competition on the gridiron for the Bulldogs. For UConn, it's the first time the school has played a game in the state of California.
This year's Fresno State squad has six players with ties to Sanger. Senior defensive end Arron Mosby (6-4, 246) and junior wide receiver Jalen Cropper (6-0, 172) were stars on Sanger High's 2016 section
championship team, and Crop- per later finished his prep ca- reer with Buchanan High in Clovis. Both players saw sig- nificant playing time in the shortened 2020 season.
Also on the Bulldogs roster are sophomore defensive back Kosi Agina (6-0, 195), junior defensive back Morice Norris and junior tight end Jake Boust (6-4, 246).
Saturday's game is the first of six home games for the Bull- dogs. They also host Cal Poly (Sept. 11), UNLV (Sept. 24), Ne- vada (Oct. 23), Boise State (Nov. 6) and New Mexico (Nov. 13).
