COLUMN
Continued from page A7
nated people can in fact still get COVID-19. Ac- cording to the Centers for Disease Control, new data began to emerge that the Delta variant was more infectious and was leading to increased transmissibility when compared to other vari- ants, even in vaccinated individuals.
I am not sure if what my cousin contracted was the Delta Variant strain but from my un- derstanding this strain is more aggressive than just COVID-19.
The CDC also recom- mends wearing masks indoors, even for vacci- nated individuals.
Their website also states that "in order to maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly
spreading it to others, wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an ar- ea of substantial or high transmission."
Here's hoping those who have COVID-19 can recover quickly. If you are reading this column and have been on the fence about getting vac- cinated and still haven't made up your mind, well, maybe this is your sign to do so.
