Offi- cers completed 85 police reports, made 19 arrests and issued 12 traffic ci- tations including three DUI arrests. There were six traffic collisions. There also was one fire call and 14 medical aid calls.

Carl was born in Rochester, New York to Louis and An- tonette. He was the second of ve siblings. In 1940 the fam- ily decided to move to Cali- fornia where they had family and friends and the dream
of starting a new life. ey packed the 1934 International panel truck and departed New York on October 6, 1940, and arrived in San Bernardino, California on October 19, 1940 where they stayed with family and nally on to Los Angeles on October 21, 1940.

Peter Scholar
April 12, 1927 — May 8, 2020
Peter passed away May 8, 2020.
He joined the Merchant Marines at age 17 and was in the army for 20 years sta- tioned in Europe. He retired and went to work for Pitts- burg Glass Co. for 20 years.
Peter is preceded in death
by his wife Eva Scholar;
parents, Michael and Mary
Scholar; brothers, Mike, Fred, Joe, Tony; and his sister, Gloria Conte.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews. There will be no services locally.
The Neptune Society will handle the funeral ar-
rangements.
Mariana Rivera
EL MONTE MIDDLE
SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL
El Monte Middle School's Mariana Rivera is named Athlete of the Week. The eighth grader was recognized as the school's Female Athlete of the Year. She played volleyball, basketball and softball for the Lobos.
Carl served in the Army and began active service in July 1944. He was honorably discharged as Corporal, 1st Army Air Forces Base Unit in July 1946.
e family purchased the ranch in Reedley in 1946 and began the daunting task of leveling the rolling hills in order to begin to farm the land. In the years that followed they raised cattle, gs, grapes, cotton, watermelon and alfalfa.
In 1952 he met and married the love of his life Madeline, and together they raised 5 children. Carl had many friends and was a man of many talents. He was a go-getter that worked tirelessly to support his family. He was a generous man quick to help others, he was fun-loving, he loved dancing and he and Madeline won a few contests in their day. He was a musi- cian, he played the saxophone, clarinet and guitar and one his favorites songs to play was Hey Jude. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards, especially the monthly poker games later in his life with his 2 groups of guys. He was a great story teller and could remember facts with great detail and he painted great pictures of his childhood in New York and early stories of the ranch. In his younger years he was a member of the Young Farmers, the Elk’s and the Eagles. He was a man of faith and active in the support of his church, St. Anthony’s in Reedley.
He is survived by his children, Barbara, Carolyn, JeanMa- rie, Louis, Kristine and spouses, 9 grandchildren, Josh, Sarah, Marissa, Carl, Katie, Adam, Samantha, Jack, Antonette, and 11 great grandchildren, Swan, Louis, Emily, Kyle, Jared, Jace, Madeline, Noah, Adalynn, Diego and Marcos. He is also sur- vived by his brother Michael and wife Laura and sisters-in-law Mary Agrifoglio and Judy Agrifoglio and many nephews and nieces and friends.
He was laid to rest on May 19 at the Reedley cemetery with his wife Madeline who proceeded him in death. ere is peace knowing they are together in the glorious realm of heaven.
Carl touched many lives in his 94 years and he will not be forgotten. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
