Staff Report
Fresno County Sheriff’s vestigating the death of a 26-year-old Orange Cove man who was fatally shot Jan. 18 in a central Orange Cove neighborhood. Authori- ties are searching for three suspects.
The killing was Orange Cove’s first homicide of 2018, and the city’s sixth since the start of 2017.

of house in the 800 block of Celaya Street about 6:30 p.m., according to a sheriff’s office news release. Tapia was pronounced dead by fire personnel treating him at the scene.
Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the case as a possible gang-related shooting, the release said. However, detectives said Tapia was a farmworker who had no criminal history.
According to investigating detectives, Tapia and two friends were standing outside the home when three men walked toward the house and started firing shots at the group. The suspects ran from the scene.

Attempts to reach Glick by telephone Jan. 23 were unsuccessful.
Sarah Reid, Community Services superintendent, has been named interim director for the department.
“She has been very in- volved with all of the com- munity service department’s projects and operations,” Zie- ba said of Reid.
Glick did extensive work in conjunction with the Reed- ley Airport Commission and was directly involved in ma- ny projects involving airport expansion and events. Zieba said she did speak with com- missioners about Glick’s de- parture at the Airport Com- mission’s Jan. 18 meeting.
“They were all very sad to hear the news. But I felt like they were owed the honor of hearing it from me person- ally,” she said. “We let them know that we still have a very strong commitment to the air- port. One of their concerns was that Joel brought a heart for what they do out there. They were concerned that with him gone that they wouldn’t feel they were as important.”
Two of Glick’s recent projects included the plan- ning for future expansion at the Reedley Sports Park and the building of a splash pad
facility at the former Luke Trimble pool. Demolition and cleanup continues at the old pool site at 8th and J streets, and plans call for the splash pad facility to be built and ready for use this summer.
