During the 2017-2018 school year
51 students completed the Wonder-
ful Ag Prep Program at Sanger High. The group is the first to have gone
all the way through the program. The students participated in the school’s ag pathway for either Plant Science or Ag Mech.
“The first graduating class,” said Dan Chacon, Sanger High principal. Twenty-four of them received associ- ates degrees from Reedley College,
which participated in the educational partnership. “We pushed them, and they pushed themselves. I’m just amazed they finished their 56 units.”
The program is one of the high school’s career and technical educa- tion pathways, which operate through grants and industry partnerships. The connection to Reedley College is one of duel enrollment in which Reedley instructors and professors worked with Sanger students to achieve their college requirements while attending high school.
The achievement for those two
dozen with college degrees shaves off a couple years’ worth of credits from a four-year degree.
Matt Canaday, a curriculum support provider overseeing the program, said it will continue. “We are ecstatic things are working out as planned.”
Chacon said the Wonderful Co. in- vested about $2 million into the opera- tion and the school matched that.

More than 300 POM Wonderful employees teamed up on June 22 to spend almost 7 hours cleaning, painting and planting, helping to beautify Del Rey
"The majority of the POM Wonderful workforce resides in Del Rey and strives to make a positive difference in their community," said Elias Reyes who helped coordinate the volunteer workforce.
"POM Wonderful employees and the Del Rey Com- munity Service District partnered to beautify their town," said Reyes.
Volunteers planted more than 40 trees, spruced up two parks, painted bleachers, fire hydrants and curbsides, built a basketball court, and deep cleaned the senior center.
This initiative is part of Project Wonderful, an employee volunteer program sponsored by The Wonderful Company, parent company of POM Wonderful. Project Wonderful provides employees the opportunity to lend support and give back to the communities where they live and work.
