The Fresno County Board of Su- pervisors on March 26 voted to ap- prove resolutions authorizing four- way stop signs at three rural inter- sections between Reedley and Selma where fatal accidents involving local residents have occurred in recent years, including two in the last nine months.
Supervisors approved making four-way stops at Bethel and Ne- braska avenues, Academy and Ne-
braska avenues and Bethel and Rose avenues. County officials said the cost of installing the additional stop signs is expected to be about $1,700.
The county will create the all- ways stops by:
• Adding signs at Bethel and Ne- braska to stop east and westbound traffic on Nebraska
• Adding signs at Academy and Nebraska to stop east and westbound traffic on Nebraska, and
• Adding signs at Bethel and Rose to stop east and westbound traf- fic on Rose.
The latter intersection was the scene of two deadly crashes. The first came last year on July 1, when Reed- ley residents Joe Vasquez Becerra, 65, and Leticia Vasquez, 63, died after the vehicle they were traveling east on Rose Avenue in was struck broad- side by a southbound car on Bethel that reportedly ran a stop sign.
Seven months later, on Feb. 23, a Visalia man driving north on Bethel sped through a stop sign and slammed into a vehicle headed east on Rose. The crash killed 8-year-old Maverick Martzen and injured his parents, Megan and Scott Martzen. The Selma residents formerly lived in Reedley.

and children were with him. He was born in Dinuba California to Marvin and Emma Just, the rst of four children. He graduated from Immanuel Bible School in 1953, and he attended Reedley college where he was a member of the student Business club. During that time, he gured out that one did not need to be a missionary or a pastor to serve God and his kingdom; business men can do that do. That’s what Marvin did throughout his adult life. Marvin registered as a non-combatant in the draft and volunteered in Kings View Hospital near Reedley where he met his lovely wife, Tips Bergen from Drake, Saskatewan, Canada. They were married in Drake on June 17, 1961. They believed God brought them together, and they had a wonderful marriage that lasted 57 years. Together, they raised four children. Marvin was a local businessman who owned a furniture business, a real estate company, and self- storage units. He faithfully used his businesses to support ministries locally and globally in addition to supporting his family. Marvin had many hobbies he enjoyed with his family. He loved photography, motorcycle riding, both dirt and street, camping, waterskiing on the Kings River, shing, and many trips to Canada to visit Tips’ family. He spent many hours in his wood shop building potting benches and chairs, many of which he donated to local charities, and he loved to include his grandchildren in whatever project he was working on. Marvin was 12 years old when he accepted the Lord, a decision he would continually refer to as the most important decision he ever made. He was baptized in the Kings River and became a member of RMBC on June 13, 1948, where he faithfully attended and served his whole life. RMBC, Immanuel Schools, MB Paci c District Conference, MB Missions (now Multiply), and many others. He was also a member of the Reedley Rotary Club. He is survived by his loving wife Tips, his children, Cindy (David) Carter, Steve (Barb) Just, Kari (Rick) Kirkwood, and Jeff (Julie) Just, his 13 grandchildren, and his sisters Carolyn Moshier & TC and Janice Fridolfs & Marlin.
Services were held April 2, 2019 at Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church. Donations can be made In lieu of owers to Immanuel Schools Scholarship Fund or Multiply (former MB Missions).
