Woman arrested for DUI after hitting, killing Sanger man

A Sanger man has died and a woman from Del Rey is currently in jail after being charged with vehicular manslaughter, said the Sanger Police Department.
According to police, David Pinedo, 71, was walking in the crosswalk located at the intersec- tion of Academy Avenue and 8th Street around 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 when he was struck by an SUV driven by Vivian Lugo, 44, of Del Rey.

Lugo is currently be- ing held in the Fresno County Jail and faces felony charges of vehic- ular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 percent or higher and causing death or injury and being an intoxicated driver and causing injury or death to another per- son.
