MVT Staff Report Immanuel High’s girls team opened the golf season on Aug. 29 with a non-league match against Chowchilla High at Ridge Creek Golf Course in Dinuba. The shorthanded Tribe — with just two golfers — and Eagles played using the modi- fied Stableford scoring system pars counted for five points. Only the top two golfers kept score, so the visitors prevailed by a 61-46 score. Immanuel freshman Karis Haltom scored 35 points, finishing behind Chowchilla junior Amber Blair (42). Other Eagles’ scorers were Julia Scarborough (28 points), Molly Klas- sen (11), Jorja Caviness (6) and Brooklyn Guerra (2). Immanuel scored 82 points in the league play scoring format. The Eagles continued non-league dual match play Sept. 11 in Fresno against San Joaquin Memorial High. After taking the first two sets comfortably (25-12, 25-15), Hanford was able to steal the third set (25-21). Dinuba, however, responded in the fourth set, taking it 25-20 to win the match. The team traveled to Madera over the weekend to participate in the Madera Classic Tournament. They opened league play on Tuesday and will be taking on rival Selma today in an away game. Reedley is now idle until Sept. 17, when they travel to Cupertino to face DeAnza College.
