Staff Report
A Reedley insurance busi- ness that has held the same ownership for a quarter-cen- tury has been sold and will carry a new name.
Laurel Blankenship, own- er of the Clovis business, has been located in Reedley for 25 years. Earlier this year how- ever, they sold it and merged the business with MVP Pre- mier Insurance Agency out of Fresno,
Blankenship completed the transaction in the spring and he remained with the agency during a transition pe- riod. Steve Mahlum – the CEO and producer of and agency that also has offices in Visalia and Selma — assumes Blan- kenship’s responsibilities and
said the agency wlll change its name to DBA: MVP Pre- mier Insurance.
“I have known Steve for over 20 years and he is a Na- tionwide agent committed to our agricultural community,” Blankenship said. She said her agency has been com- mitted to provide service for individuals and businesses, primarily in the farm and ag- related field.
Mahlum, a native of Wis- consin, has been in the insur- ance industry for 22 years. He formed his own agency in 2001, and in the past 13 years the company has grown from an initial five employees to more than 40 personnel and seven locations.
Blankenship and Mahlum said that a valuable asset
with the agency will remain in longtime customer service representative Terri L. John- ston. The Reedley resident of more than 25 years has spent 30 years in the insurance business and her experience includes all lines of property/ casualty and health insur- ance.
Blankenship, a Visalia resident, said she wants to thank all her longtime clients for their loyalty and friend- ship.
“Like so many of us, my job depends on [agriculture] and all of our hard-working farm families,” she said. “I want to share my heartfelt thanks to [the community] for helping create the good memories I will take with me.”
