Animal shelter volunteers try to make it as good a Thanksgiving as possible for the shelter dogs
Dick Sheppard/Sanger Herald
Sanger Animal Shelter volunteers, L-R, Jackie DiBello, Kim Reed with "Cowboy" and Alisen Fujisawa are making a major difference in the lives of shelter dogs like Cowboy who was re- cently brought to the shelter when his human was told she could no longer have a dog in her apartment complex. It's Cowboy's first Thanksgiving in a shelter and he obviously is thankful for the warm sweater and the hugs he gets from the volunteers. He spent his first few years as his human's only dog, a lap dog, getting lots of attention and treats. Jackie, Kim and Alisen are helping him adjust to shelter life while he waits for another human to give him a forever home. "We can use more sweaters like the one Cowboy is wearing and some blankets," said Kim, who is the shelter's volunteer coordinator. Call animal control officer Mario Irazoqui at (559) 618-9071 if you would like to donate - or adopt or foster.

This week's featured pet is "Cowboy."
"He's probably about 3 years old, a boxer, pitbull, pug mix maybe and he loves laps and hugs," said shelter volun- teer Kim Reed.
Call animal control officer Mario Ira- zoqui at (559) 618-9071 or message the Sanger Animal Shelter Facebook page and leave your email address to find out more about the adoption process which will involve home checks.
Let Mario know if you're interested in providing a temporary foster home for any of the shelter dogs or if you are able to donate a warm blanket or doggy sweater - colder weather is on the way.
Weather for Apache Country
It's likely we'll have showers off and on for the rest of the month. We could get a light shower or two today and heavier rain tomorrow.
The rain will clear the smoke out of the air
It's now fog season in the Valley, so it's likely tule fog will follow close behind those first few showers.
Expect daytime temperatures in the low 60s and nighttime temperatures in the low 40s for the next couple of weeks.
