Reedley College football opens NDVL play this week

Reedley College's first foot- ball season in the National Di- vision Valley League begins Saturday, Oct. 16. at historic Hughes Stadium in Sacramento.
Kickoff time for the league opener with the 1-4 Sacra- mento City College Panthers is scheduled for 1 p.m. The game is scheduled to be live streamed by both schools.

The Tigers bring (4-1) are ranked 14th in the state by the California Community College Sports Information Directors Association and 16th in the state by the JC Athletic Bureau.
Women's golf second at Big 8 tourney match
A steadily improving Reed- ley College Tiger women’s golf team finished second be- hind Modesto Junior College in a Big 8 Conference tourna- ment on Oct. 7 at the Turlock
Golf and Country Club.
The Lady Tigers shot a season best round of 325, nine
strokes behind Modesto. Avery Foster (Clovis) of Reedley was the medalist with a terrific three-under- par score of 69. According to Coach Scott Stark, Foster shot the second best individual
round in school history. Other rounds for the Lady Tigers included Mya Chao (Golden West, Visalia) with a 77, Natalie Van Pelt (El Capi-
tan, Merced) with an 88 and Cynthia Reyes (Golden West) with a 91.
Reedley hosts a conference tournament Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Kings River Golf and Country Club.
RC women's soccer scoreless in three matches
Even though Denise Elias- Martinez still leads the Cen- tral Valley Conference in goals with eight, the Reedley College women’s soccer team still has lost its last three
games by shutout.
Reedley dropped to 1-3 in
conference play after a 2-0 loss at home to Clovis Com- munity College on Oct. 8, three days after a 1-0 defeat at Taft on Oct. 5. The Tigers' scoreless run began with a 1-0 blanking at the hands of Fresno City College.
The Lady Tigers return to the pitch on Friday, Oct. 15, at Merced College in a 2 p.m. contest to end the first round of conference play.

Reedley High’s Jacob Rocha completed 10 of 20 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns
in the Pirates’ 38-0 victory over Fresno High on Oct. 7. The junior quarterback, in his first full season as a starter, has thrown for more than 600 yards and seven touchdowns and has added 115 yards and one TD rushing for the 6-0 Pirates.
