Elias Guzman Arellano
Elias Guzman Arel-
lano of Cutler died Sept. 27 in Clovis. He was 77. Mr. Arellano worked
as a farm laborer.
He is survived by his
wife, Maria Guadalupe Guzman, three sons, three daughters, five brothers, eight sisters, 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchil- dren.
Services were held Oct. 4 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cut- ler. Burial followed at Smith Mountain Cem- etery in Dinuba.

September 23, 2021. Pat was
born on July 4, 1941 in Fresno, California to Henry and Loraine Klamm. She is survived by her sons Brad and Michael. Brad has a wife, Christine, and two sons: Jacob and Andrew. Michael has a wife, Erin, and a son, Max.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Reedley, CA at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please send remembrances to

Numbers released early this week show that active cases and calculated case rates of COVID-19 took a de- cline over seven days in Tulare County while managing to remain rel- atively stable in Fresno County.
Tulare County's ac- tive cases for the week of Oct.5-12 dipped to 2,365, 322 less than at the start of the period. The new cases per 100,000 population also waned from 32.4 cases to 29.7 cases. There were 20 new deaths in the coun- ty, but hospitalizations were down by 14 and re- coveries had climbed to 94.8 percent of all cases.
Fresno County's ac- tive case numbers in- creased by 47, but the number of new cases per
10K dropped from 26.2 to 25.5. Also, the positiv- ity rate dropped to 7.3 percent from a midweek peak of 8 percent.
When it came to vac- cinations, Fresno Coun- ty is creeping nearer to the 500,000 level in fully vaccinated patients, ac- cording to the county's Department of Public Health website. As of Oct. 12, 497,426 final doses had been admin- istered. Early last week, the Fresno County Su- perior Court had an- nounced that court em- ployees not excluded from accommodation were required to be fully vaccinated by no later than Friday, Nov. 19. Those not vaccinat- ed by that date would be placed on unpaid leave until further notice.
In Tulare County, the number of fully vacci- nated was reported at 235,514 (42.6 percent) as of Oct. 11, and 429,182 with partial vaccination status. That was 5,597 new shots administered for the week.
Total COVID cases in Dinuba increased by 88 for the week while they increased by 15 in Orosi and 12 in Cutler.

Hector Ramos of Cutler died Sept. 29 in Cutler. He was 73.
Mr. Ramos worked as a building contractor. He is survived but his wife Juanita Ramos, five sons, one daughter, 15 grandchildren and 10

Rankin of Visalia died Sept. 30 in Visalia. She was 89.
Mrs. Rankin was a homemaker.

Saenz Jr. of Dinuba died Sept. 12 in Visalia. He was 23.
Mr. Saenz worked as a packer.

As of the most recent update as of Tuesday, Oct. 12, there had been 131,703 confirmed cases (25.6 daily cases per 10,000 population) of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) out of 1,767,195 tests in Fresno County, with 2,036 deaths and 250 hospitalizations (52 in ICU).

Among Mid Valley Times cities in the county through Oct. 12 (Fresno County's new dashboard surveillance has provided updates for regions rather than cities; and no numbers updates were received in recent weeks), the Sanger region remained with the most total overall positive cases with 6,721 (4,900 in the city proper) and 67 deaths in data on the Fresno County Department of Public Health website.
In Tulare County, there was a total of 63,871 confirmed cases (2,365 active, a decrease of 322 for the week) of COVID- 19 with 932 deaths and 147 people hospitalized (24 in ICU) as of Tuesday, Oct. 12. Breakdowns by cities/regions through Oct. 12 show 5,472 total cases in Dinuba, 1,828 in Orosi, 926 in Cutler, 348 in Traver, 90 in the rural area south of Reedley and 39 in the area southeast of Orange Cove.
