The Orosi High football team raced out to a 28-7 halftime lead and never looked back as the Car- dinals picked up their third straight win of the season with a 49-7 win over Minarets on Friday in an East Sequoia League game.
Junior tailback Dominic Marti- nez rushed for 250 yards on 17 car- ries with a pair of touchdowns for OHS, who improved to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in league while the Mus- tangs fall to 4-4 and 2-3 in ESL play.
“We played really well,” said coach Ben White. “We were able to control both lines of scrimmage. We ran 35 plays and were able to score 49 points. That’s almost unheard of.”
White also praised the play of his defense.
“Our defense was led by Freddi Arciga and linebacker Juan Flores. They both played well. Our defen- sive backs led by Aiden Rodriguez and Andrew Arechiga shut down their high-powered passing attack.”
Martinez opened the scoring with a 5-yard run to end a six play 53 yard drive. He later scored on a 3-yard run as the Cardinals held a 14-0 lead before Minarets cut the lead to 14-7 on a 5-yard TD run by sophomore running back Noah Se- gura.
On their opening possession of the second quarter, Orosi marched to the Mustangs 16 yard line. Fac- ing a 4th and 7, quarterback Evan Lara’s pass intended for wide re- ceiver Nathan Lopez, was picked off by cornerback Rylan Herrod. Minarets was pinned at the goal line before moving the ball to Oro- si’s 47 yard line.
The Cardinals then came up with a big defensive play as Aiden Rodriguez intercepted a pass from Martin Urroz, returning it 53 yards for a TD. After each team punted the ball, Orosi would score again as Lara connected on a 33-yard TD play to Rodriguez with 42 seconds remaining in the first half.
“Aiden had an outstanding game running and catching the ball, and playing defense,” White said. “He had a touchdown catch, intercep- tionforaTDandmadeall7ofour PAT’s.”
In the second half, fullback Freddi Arciga got into the scoring act on a 9-yard run in the 3rd quar- ter that was set up by a 39-yard run by Martinez. The Cardinals would add on two more TD’s behind Alex Martinez, including a 41-yard scam- per.
Rodriguez caught four passes for81yardsandLarawas5of9 for 110 yards.
Orosi and Parlier (4-5, 2-3) will square off tomorrow night at 7:30
p.m.
“Parlier looks like a much-im-
proved team from the past few years,” White said. “They are com- ing off a big win over Fowler, so I know they’ll be fired up. They have a good quarterback and a pretty explosive offense. It will be a chal- lenge trying to shut them down.”

The loss eliminates the Emperors from post season play as they fall to 2-6 over- all and 0-3 in the CSL while the top-ranked Division III Vikings re- main perfect at 8-0 and 3-0 in league.

A short TD run by Cole Dias gave Kings- burg a 12-3 lead in the 2nd quarter.
Special teams play gave the Vikings an 18- 3 lead as Cal Muxlo re- turned a block punt and the ensuing PAT was
good by Brian Jimenez. The Emperors, who had a potential scor- ing drive denied by the Vikings, had marched to the 29-yard line but turned the ball over on downs. A few plays later, Kingsburg’s Tra- vis Hall scored from 12 yards to make the

By Rick Curiel
Mid Valley Times
From famine to feast, the Sanger Apaches went from a frustrating offensive performance in last week’s loss to Bullard to a dynamic 42- 0 shutout over Madera South on Friday.
The Oct. 18 victory came on a big night for Sanger High School and Sanger Athletics, as the evening was Homecom- ing for the Apaches and a special guest ap- pearance was made on the Sanger sideline by former longtime coach Chuck Shidan.
The former coach served as grand marshal for the school’s home- coming parade and had also been inducted in Sanger High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame prior to the Apache’s game at a reception in Sanger’s Civic Center.
Sanger head coach Jorge Pena was happy to get the victory on the special evening.
It took a while, how- ever, for the Apaches to get the ball rolling on Friday night, as a turn-

One senior in particu- lar, Matt Tiger, did the ma- jority of the damage for Immanuel. The running back overpowered the visitors with 204 yards on 12 carries, including scor- ing runs of 15 and 6 yards in the first half. Tiger also added a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown after the Chieftains col- lected their lone score of the game.
Sophomore quarter- back Hector Davila at- tempted just three passes, but the one completion was good for a 51-yard touch- down to senior Trace Pires. Senior Andrew Herrera’s
lone carry of the evening went for a 23-yard score, and senior Camilo Maldo- nado added a 2-yard TD run as the the Eagles built a 36-0 lead at halftime.
Pires added an inter- ception near the end of the first half. The Eagles’ defense limited Sierra just one touchdown, a short run in the fourth quarter. Offensively, Immanuel picked up 305 of its 358 total yards on the ground. Freshman Matthew Azua kicked a 21-yard field goal and was 4-for-6 on extra points.
The Eagles (6-2 over- all) will be on the road for their final two regular sea- son games. They’ll travel to Tracy to take on Millen- nium Charter School on Friday, Oct. 25, then head south to Kern County to face McFarland High on Friday, Nov. 1.

over prevented Sanger from scoring on their opening drive, some- thing the team has been accustomed to this sea- son.
But with 29 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Sanger was able to capitalize on their second possession of the game when Apache quarterback Noel Col- lazo connected with his favorite target, wide re- ceiver Dolce Calandra, in the back of the end
zone for a 27-yard touch- down pass. The score capped off a 71-yard drive.
The Apaches steam- rolled from there, as they went on to score two more times in the second quarter to take a 21-0 lead into the break. Calandra cashed in on another touchdown ear- ly in the second quarter as he hauled in a catch near the Madera South 10-yard-line, beat two defenders and reached
pay dirt with a dive over the right pylon.
Calandra would fin- ish the game with 84 yards on four catches and two touchdowns.
Also finishing with two touchdowns was Apache’s running back Kosi Agina. Seeing more time as Sanger heads in- to the final games of the regular season, Agina did not disappoint. The senior running back car-
