Robertson said the actu- al repaving of Reed Avenue won’t begin until the fall se- mester has started at Reed- ley College. Initial work will be to replace water lines and storm drains that have dete- riorated some.

Ann Martens
July 18, 1923 - May 8, 2018
Anna “Ann” Grace Martens passed away at the age of 94 on May 8,
2018, surrounded by her chil- dren at Palm Village Retire-
ment Community in Reedley, California.
Anna Grace Koehn was born July 18, 1923, to Hein-
rich Garfield Koehn and Elisabeth Esau Koehn on a farm near Buhler, Kansas. She was the second of five
children. Ann’s father died when she was very young,
leaving her mother with five children to raise. Ann’s mother packed up the family
and belongings and moved into nearby Buhler, to be near schools and the church. Ann’s mother died of a heart condition
at the age of 49. Ann, being the eldest daughter, was required to assume much of the responsibility of keeping house, caring for the needs of the younger children; learning to bake, cooks, sew, gardening, etc. This was also the time she accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, baptized, and learned to put her trust in Jesus.
Ann met Stanley Eugene Martens, son of Henry and Lydia, of Reedley, California, while attending Tabor College in Kan- sas. They fell in love and knew that God brought them together and were married on April 6, 1944. They clung tightly to their own personal faith; anchored in a great God. Their love never dimmed throughout all of the challenges life brought them in over 70 years of marriage.
Ann’s great joy was raising her children and being a home- maker, and later spending time with her grandsons, and great- grandchildren. Ann’s relationship with God was first in her life, and she served the Lord with joy. She always strove to encour- age and uplift others, giving hours of love and kindness to so many. Ann was a member of the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church, served as a deacon along with Stan, was a Sunday school teacher, and led numerous Bible studies. She was also involved in Christian Women’s Club and the Board of Tabor College. Ann loved God and it was evident in her life.
Stan and Ann experienced the tragic losses of their first born child, Jon when he was thirteen years old; and son, Jerry, in 2014. Ann lost her dear husband of 70 years in January 2015.
Ann continued to enjoy living at Palm Village, blessing oth- ers with her love and encouragement. We rejoice that Ann had such a long and full life, and is now in her eternal home with her precious Jesus.
Ann is survived by children Liz Oliver of Kingsburg, Joel Martens of Visalia, and Leanne Martens of Reedley. Surviving grandchildren Jason (Yvonne) Martens; Kyle Martens; and Jon (Katie) Oliver. Great-grandchildren are Grace and Carter Mar- tens, children of Jason and Yvonne, and Kyla Oliver, daughter of Jon and Katie.
She was predeceased by sons Jon Martens and Jeremy (Jerry) Martens, and husband Stan Martens.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Palm Village Retirement Commu- nity in Reedley, California.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Palm Village Living Legacy at 703 W. Herbert Avenue, Reedley, CA 93654; or the charity of choice. Special thanks to the staff at
Palm Village for their loving care and devotion to Ann.
