Reedley College rings in the New Year with the hiring of Dr. David Santesteban as the new director of athletics. A 1987 graduate of Fresno’s Hoover High School, Santesteban brings over 30 years of experience to Reedley as a student athlete, coach, teacher and administrator.
“I am thrilled to have Dr. Santesteban come home to
join our team,” said Reedley College president Dr. Sandra Caldwell. “David has a proven track record on all levels of athletics, from the playing field to administration. I have no doubt he will take our mens’ and womens’ programs to new heights, while watching our student athletes continue to excel on the playing field and in the classroom.”
An All-Conference selection with the 1987 and 1988 Fresno City College men’s soccer team, Santesteban then transferred to Fresno State, where he played for legendary head coach Jose Elgorriaga and won consecutive Big West champion-

Big night
for Apache
basketball
It was a night to re- member! The aggressive Sanger Apaches beat the San Joaquin Memorial Panthers 85-75 going away.
"To my knowledge this is the first time the Apaches have defeated the No. 1 team in the section and the No. 11 team overall in the state," said Sanger's master statisti- cian Ron Blackwood after the Tuesday game.
Memorial's starting
five couldn't compete with Sanger's deep bench strength in the second half. That's when the Apaches out scored the tiring Panthers 47-32.
Sanger took over the game in the third quarter and never looked back, said Blackwood.
Morice Norris scored 11 of his 25 points in the second half. Saldeep Dhillon score 9 of his 11 points in the second half.
The awesome Apaches are home this Friday against Madera South.
