from keeping pace with the potent Eagles attack.
After Dinuba grabbed the early lead on Olivera's 7-yard run, Ba- kersfield Christian used special teams to knot the game. After a long punt pinned the Emps inside their own 10-yard line, the BC de- fense held and forced a short punt, Bryson Waterhouse picked up the rolling ball and looped right side around potential tacklers for a 39-yard scoring return.
The Eagles offense then went to work. After a Dinuba punt, Bran- don Waterman found his brother slip behind two DHS defenders and hit him in stride for a 69-yard score. Perez later registered his first rushing TD on a 48-yard run, before an Olivera 11-yard TD run and a missed PAT narrowed BC's lead to 21-13 at the half.
Bakersfield Christian, coached by Darren Carr with former Fresno State star and NFL quarterback Da- vid Carr as offensive coordinator, struck quickly on the first posses- sion of the third quarter. The Water- man again hooked up on a perfectly thrown long pass for a 54-yard TD to make it 28-20, before the Emps responded with a drive culminating in the TD reception by Herrera.
The teams exchanged touch- downs in the late third-early fourth quarters. A Brandon Wa- terman scoring run was offset by a 10-yard Barragan-to-Olivera TD pass on fourth down with 11:15 re- maining to make it 35-27.
The Eagles then delivered the knockout when Dylan Johnson outleapt a DHS defender to catch a long pass and complete a 47-yard scoring play with 91/2 minutes left. Another Dinuba fumble then set up a game-clinching 25-yard run by Perez in the final three minutes.
