According to an arti- cle in the GV Wire, home- lessness continues to be the number one issue in California.
In Fresno and Madera counties there were more than 3,000 homeless peo- ple living on the streets. Nearly 1,000 in shelters.
How has this hap- pened? How can we as a society combat this trou- bling issue?
Many of these people haven't had the resources to help ease their situa- tions or heal their trau- mas.
Just something to think about as we ap- proach the holiday sea- son. How can we, as a society, help out the troubled people that ev- eryone else has forgotten about?

enue, I noticed a steady column of black smoke coming from behind the restaurant. I pulled into the parking lot and no- ticed a large pile of de- bris on fire. It quickly began catching onto the fence and the telephone pole nearby.
A man in a truck told me he’d called 911 and fire was on its way. I remember how quickly that fire spread from the makeshift campsite to the vegetation nearby. Just as it began to take off out of control, the fire department arrived and put it out.
I have taken notice of how many homeless people there have been, not just in Fresno County
