An explosive Bakersfield Christian Eagles team used the big play to end Dinuba High's run at a possible Cen- tral Section Division III foot- ball championship.
Quarterback Brandon Wa- terhouse passed for 233 yards and three touchdowns; two to his brother Bryson Water- house, who also added a punt return TD while Nathan Perez rushed for two scores as BC (10-3) pulled away in the sec- ond half for a 49-27 victory before a near-packed house at Claud Hebert Field on Nov. 19.
The seventh-seeded Ea- gles take on top seed Central Valley Christian on Friday, Nov. 26, in Visalia. Dinuba, meanwhile, finished a strong bounceback season with an 8-5 record under first-year head coach C.J. Lester. Two of the losses were by three points to CVC and an overtime defeat against Central Sequoia League champion Kingsburg.
"Seeing these kids go 0-4, and then flipping it to get to the semifinals and get a chance to go to the Valley championship, I'm proud of these kids. I love the heck out of them," Lester said.
