Reedley completed another perfect 10-0 run through NYL play with victories last week over Hoover and at Sunnyside. The Oct. 16 win over the Patriots took four sets, snapping a streak of 54 con- secutive sets won in league dat- ing back to 2016. But the Pirates rolled to three straight wins after dropping the opener by a 25-23 count.
Honored at the Senior Night match were Reese Kubo, Maddy Gates, Leila Wright, Nikole Rodri- guez, Liz Valdez, Kayla Rocha, Al-
exa Gonzalez, Clare McGahan and Julie Scott. All seniors spent four years in the program.
Rodriguez (18 kills, 24 digs) and Scott (17 kills) paced the of- fense while Gates added 10 kills and 22 digs. Setter Rocha dished out 45 assists.
"We continue to play at a level that allows us to dominate the league, but continue to make strides in maintaining a high lev- el of play in order to prepare for the post-season," RHS coach Ken Tatami said.
After the sweep of Sunnyside, Tatami credited the team with its consistent play for a balanced ef- fort.
"They are beginning to come together and get more focused on the things that are needed to take into the post-season," he said.
A win over Sierra would ad- vance Reedley against the winner between No. 7 Madera South and No. 10 Highland of Bakersfield on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The semifinal round is Thursday, Nov. 1.
Mistakes haunt Pirates
Fumbles, flags costly in 31-7 loss to Hoover
Staff Report
The Reedley High School varsity football team was hop- ing to get a shot at salvaging a .500 season by taking a road win Oct. 18 in Fresno against the Hoover Patriots.
But turnovers and penal- ties bogged down the Pirates' offense all night, and Hoover made enough big plays to pull away for a 31-7 victory at Sunnyside High Stadium. The loss dropped Reedley to 3-6 overall, 1-3 in North Yo- semite League games.
The Pirates will try to close the season on a win on Friday, Oct. 26, against Sunnyside at Sal Gonzalez Field. It's Senior Night, and the team will honor all the senior players on the roster. Varsity kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Staff Report
The Immanuel High Ea- gles will learn their postsea- son football future this week- end when the Central Section Division 5 football playoff brackets are released.
Immanuel (4-5) has a bye this week, after dropping a 30-6 decision to Viewpoint High School from Calabasas on Oct. 19 at Agoura High School in Southern California. The Eagles' lone score came on a 4-yard run by quarter- back Matt Tiger in the second quarter, and the host Patriots (2-7) scored the game's final 16 points to win going away.
Viewpoint jumped to the lead on its first possession, taking the opening kickoff and rushing for a touchdown.
The hosts doubled the lead after recovering an Imman- uel fumble, scoring another TD on the ground with five minutes left in the quarter.
After the Eagles drove for a touchdown — converting a minute into the second quar- ter and then missing a 2-point try, Viewpoint countered with a scoring drive to go up 20-6.
After intercepting a Ti- ger pass, the Patriots scored two minutes before halftime on a 45-yard pass hookup from quarterback Niko Can- dido to receiver Luke Boehm. The only scoring from either team in the second half came on a Viewpoint field goal in the final minute of play.

The Tigers’ final regular season home game is set for Nov. 3 in a 1 p.m. matchup with the slumping Monterey Peninsula College Lobos. Against San Jose, the Tigers survived three turnovers (two lost fumbles and an in- terception. In the second half, the Tiger de- fense came up big with a pair of stops inside the 10-yard line.
All but seven of the game’s points came in the first half. Reedley opened the scoring on their first possession by marching 68 yards in seven plays capped by a 9-yard scoring pass from Randall Johnson to Andy Pierre-Antoine.
“Our defense got the big turnover to spark us,” said Reedley head coach Eric Marty. “We either start fast on offense or turn the ball over.” The Tigers were able to cash in on the turnover. “That got us going again.”
Marty was pleased with the Tigers’ perfor- mance on third down on both sides of the ball.
