Kings River Conservancy hires Morris as education director

The Kings River Conservancy has hired Mary Morris as their new education director.
Morris will be working with the Sanger Unified School District to bring students to the Kings River at North Riverside Park and the Kings
River Wildlife Area.
S.H. Cowell Foundation awarded
a grant to create the education di- rector position, which is designed to work with Sanger Unified middle and high school students on river field trips, service projects, and se- nior projects on the river. The part- time position will eventually expand
to working with other school districts in the area.
“It’s important to introduce the children of our area to the natural wonders of the river and the built wonder of the dam,” said Deborah Lapp, conservancy board president. “If the young people love and respect the Kings River as we do, they’ll
bring their families out and grow up to protect it and appreciate it’s beauty and power.”
Morris brings to the Kings River Conservancy a background in biol- ogy and vast experience in the ar- eas of natural health and nutrition. She completed her doctoral studies in naturopathy and has taught as an
instructor for many years, including students of all ages at the YMCA in Indiana.

Sheriff’s Office promotions Oct. 25

The Fresno County Sher- iff’s Office will be swearing in new hires during a cer- emony at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Clovis Veter- ans Memorial Auditorium, 808 4th St.

Obituaries
Louis S. Calerame
Louis S. Calerame of Reedley died Oct. 20. He was 99.
Mr. Calerame worked as a machinist.
He is survived by two daughters, five grandchil- dren, 11 great-grandchil- dren and two great-great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 10:30 and Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at the old St. Anthony of Padua Catho- lic Church. A graveside ser- vice will immediately fol- low at Reedley Cemetery.
Edyth Fennel
Edyth Lorraine Fennel, a Reedley native, died Oct. 17 in Fresno. She was 85.
Ms. Fennell worked as
an administrative assistant in the insurance industry for 30 years.
She is survived by fam- ily and friends.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Sat- urday, Nov. 3, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Fresno.
Mark Tsutsui
Mark Tsutsui of Han- ford died Oct. 19 in Han- ford. He was 67.
Mr. Tsutsui worked as a store manager.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, one sister and three grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Dopkin’s Dinuba Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Reedley Cemetery.

Reedley Area Relay for Life raised more than $2,400 during the annual A-Bra-Cada-Bra Night bra auction fundraiser on Oct.
16 at The Pub in downtown Reedley. Volunteers made custom bras that were modeled and auctioned off to raise money in the fight against cancer.
