Dinuba's parks closed Easter weekend
By George M. Villagrana
Mid Valley Times
Residents of Dinuba stayed put as the city’s parks were closed over the Easter week- end as a preventative measure because of the current COV- ID-19 pandemic.
The parks typically see a sig- nificant increase in traffic over the weekend but the parks were shuttered by the city to prevent public gatherings.
City manager Luis Patlan had indicated staff would moni- tor the parks and if there were a large gathering would be asked to comply by leaving the parks. Fortunately, there were no problems.
“Staff who monitored parks over the weekend said there were not reportable issues,” stated Patlan. “People stayed out of the parks and avoided public gatherings.”
On April 8, a joint press
release sent out by city and Tulare county agencies stated to all county residents that all local parks and recreational areas throughout the county would be closed.
Local and state health offi- cials discouraged people from gathering beyond single house- holds consistent with current recommendations from Tulare County Public Health Branch and the state’s stay at home order.
