Fire crews from the Reedley Fire Depart- ment and Fresno County Fire quickly responded and contained a chimney fire in the 1100 block of Cyrier in Reedley on the morning of Jan. 20.

The incident also served as a reminder to residents who have a chimney or fireplace, in their home. Remember to have them cleaned and inspected annually.
According to csia.org, these types of fires burn a lot of dense smoke upon ignition and are of- ten described as having a loud cracking or pop- ping sound accompanied by the strong smell of smoke.
The website also states to call the fire de- partment immediately if a chimney fire begins to burn uncontrollably.
