In his first match, Arreola pinned Levy Cortez of Royal and Collin Towe of Waterford before facing Gayton.

The Orosi High basketball team is still looking for their first West Sequoia League win after the Cardinals suffered a 51-36 loss to Parlier on Tuesday night. The Panthers trailed 9-8 after the first quarter before outscoring OHS 15-3 in the second. Parlier led by as many as 21 points in the third quarter. Orosi cut the lead to 46-32 late in the 4th but could not get any closer. Jose Ramos (left) led the Cardinals in scoring with 16.

The Cardinals had a scheduled match against Riverdale Friday afternoon but it was postponed to next Wednesday, according to Vega.

Matt Rivera posted a 2-2 record at 113 to finish fourth overall.
Matt Adams went 1-2 at 220 and Rodrigo Calvillo aslo went 1-2 at 170.
Dinuba hosted the Central Sequoia League Dual team championships on Wednesday and will host their annual JV and Junior High tournament on Saturday.

A game effort by the Reedley College women’s basketball team fell short as visiting College of the Sequoias held off the Lady Tigers’ upset bid leaving the RC gymnasium with a 67-57 victory in a Central Valley Conference game.
COS entered the game ranked No. 4 in the state and improved to 18-3 overall and 3-1 in conference action while Reedley falls to 10-8 and 2-1.
The Giants were coming off a blowout loss to Merced just three days prior in a much-anticipated matchup of the state’s No. 4 and No. 3 teams but the Blue Devils staked claim to the top spot in the conference with a 90-70 rout in Visalia.
Reedley got out to a great
start outscoring COS in the first quarter 22-15. The Giants responded holding the Lady Tigers to five points in the second quarter and led 30-27 at halftime.
COS increased the lead to 50-41 after the third quarter before closing the game out in the fourth.
A pair of Dinuba Emperors saw significant playing time for RC as Stephanie Cervantes had 12 points and six rebounds including a pair of 3-pointers while Sam Mendoza had three points and two steals.
College of Sequoias’ Alaysia Reed led all scorers with 23 points and six rebounds and teammate Shae Sanchez had 16 points.
Former Orosi High standout guard MaRazelle Quicio, who is a point guard for COS, did not see action against the Tigers.

The 2019 Dinuba High School baseball camp for ages 7-14 takes place from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 26 on the varsity baseball field at Washington Intermediate School.
Registration will be at 9 a.m. and cost is $25.
Campers will receive an Emperor baseball shirt, lunch
and instructions from DHS coaches and players. Campers need to wear appropriate baseball attire and bring cleats, glove and bat if possible. In addition, please indicate what position you want to sign up for: infield, outfield, pitcher, or catcher.

In a 2-1 road win at Central Valley Christian on Jan. 14, Rodriguez said the match was a lot closer than he anticipated.
“It was a lot closer than we thought,” he said. “They were pretty big and physical. They had the height advantage.”
Cueva and Gutierrez each scored a goal as Lucatero assisted on both goals.
Dinuba will be playing at Kingsburg on Tuesday.

The Dinuba High girls basketball program presents the 4th Annual Father Daughter Sweetheart Dinner-Dance from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Saturday, February 9 in the Dinuba High East gym.
Tickets are $30 per couple in advance $10 each additional daughter. All ages welcome.
Tickets will be sold at the door for $40 per couple.

The Emperors played Selma late Tuesday night before hosting Immanuel tonight at 7:30. The Eagles are 15-5 and 7-0 in CSL play.
“Immanuel is up front and
that’s the team to shoot for right now,” Schofield said. “Every team in our league is tough. There is no easy night for everyone, every team plays pretty hard. We have to continue to play more unselfish in every game and play together. When we play together and move the ball around we’re a lot better team.”
California Storm girls basketball team to hold tryouts next month

California Storm, an elite Nike sponsored club girls basketball program, is coming to the central region.
Cal Storm will be holding team specific tryouts starting in February of 2019, at various gymnasiums throughout San Luis Obispo and Fresno County. All athletes are invited to tryout. Thereafter, weekly practices
and skills clinics will be held in the following age divisions: 10U, 11U, 13U, 14U, and High School. Teams will consist of female athletes from the following counties: San Luis Obispo, Tulare, Kern, Kings, Fresno, and Santa Barbara. of the Week after he captured rst place in the 171-pound weight class at the 65th annual Sam Boyd California Invitational Tournament held at Morro Bay High School this past weekend. Long won all ve of his matches that included an 8-0 win against Cole Viscante of Morro Bay in the nale.
