Cemetery district officials said in a news release that par- ents and families have been al- lowing children to play games on the graves, and structures Obituaries Consuelo Gamez Consuelo Solis Ga- mez of Sanger died Oct. 2. She was 91. Mrs. Gamez was a retired farm laborer. She is survived by three sons, two daughters, two sisters, 16 grandchil- dren, 23 great grandchil- dren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. Tues- day, Oct. 15, at the new St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sanger from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the new St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Stella Garza Stella Garza of Di- nuba died Oct. 2. She was 64. Mrs. Garza worked as a stocker. She is survived by her husband Guadalupe Garza, three sons, six sisters and a grandchild. Services were Oct. 8 at St. Catherine’s Catho- lic Church in Dinuba. Jesus Gonzalez Jesus Nunez Gonza- lez of Sanger died Sept. 9. He was 87. Mr. Gonzalez worked as a Machinist for Adco and other objects have been left at gravesides and cause a safety hazard. The new restrictions will go into effect Jan. 28, 2020 at Smith Mountain Cemetery, located at 42088 Road 100 in Dinuba. The district's board of trust- ees voted at its Sept. 9 meeting to ban from the cemetery bar- becues and picnics, alcoholic beverages, loud music, play- ing of games over graves, lawn chairs and tables on adjacent graves, fireworks, structures or frames and fencing. The action is being taken with re- spect to grieving families, and the sheriff's department will be called to address anyone not complying with the new restrictions. The district also is adding restrictions to the cemetery's flower policy effective on Jan. 28. Due to possible safety hazards, no decorations other than flowers will be allowed. No glass vases will be allowed, and flowers must be placed in unbreakable containers. The following flower re- strictions also apply: • All flowers must be placed on a marker. • Upright flowers must be in (unbreakable) vase or on ce- ment only. • No fencing or digging is allowed around the marker area. • No mylar balloons are al- lowed on cemetery grounds. • Any decoration in viola- tion of cemetery policy will be removed. A rosary and funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the old St. Mary’s Cath- olic Church in Sanger. Clarence Harms Clarence Dean Harms of Dinuba died Oct. 4. He was 82. Mr. Harms worked for Salwasser Manu- facturing for 49 years, retiring as a manager with the company. He is survived by his wife Carol Harms, one son, one daughter, one brother, one sister and four grandchildren. Services are pend- ing at this time. Elvira Isassi Elvira Isassi of Reedley died Oct. 2 at her residence. She was 77. Mrs. Isassi worked as gift shop owner. She is survived by four daughters, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A mass was held Oct. 7 at St. John's Cathedral in Fresno. Burial was in Reedley Cemetery. Shidan also will be the featured speaker at a pre-game mixer, starting at 4:30 p.m., hosted by the Hall of Fame Committee at the red brick building in the park by city hall, next to the Depot Museum. The committee organizing the 9th annual Sanger Veterans Parade on Saturday, Nov. 2, is still looking for a grand marshal. “This year the parade is honoring the U.S. Coast Guard and we’re hoping to find an active duty or a retired Coast Guard member to serve as grand marshal,” said committee chair JD Bennett. MVT Staff Report On Friday, Oct. 4, at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sanger police made a traffic stop in the 1300 block of James Street for a traffic viola- tion. During the stop, the officer received in- formation that the driv- er was on AB 109 pro- bation. The terms of his probation give officers authority to search his home or vehicle. During a search of the car, a plastic baggie containing 1.3 grams of methamphetamine was found in the car. A fur- ther search resulted in finding a handgun con- cealed under the passen- ger seat. Two male sus- pects in the vehicle were arrested and transported to the police department for booking. Sanger police offi- cers then prepared a search warrant for the passenger’s home, as the gun was connected to him. After getting the judge to sign the search warrant, detec- tives went to the home in the 1500 block of Brehler Avenue. There, they conducted a search of the home and found 16.1 grams of metham- phetamine inside. The suspect who re- sides at the home ad- mitted to engaging in the sales of meth in Abel S.
