APACHES Continued from B1 Coyote’s 15 yard line. The senior quarter- back turned in a solid night for the Apaches, accounting for half of his team’s eight touchdowns, two on keepers and two on passes. He also rushed for 138 yards. “He’s really benefit- ing from our offense in such a good way,” said Pena about Collazo’s per- formance. “He’s doing a great job in managing it (the Apache’s triple-option offense).” Collazo found the end zone twice in the first quarter, the first on a 4-yard keeper and the sec- ond on a 20-yard touch- down pass to Apache se- nior wide receiver Dolce Calandra. He followed that with a play-action pass for a touchdown in the third quarter and an 8-yard keeper in the fourth. Sanger running back Kosi Agina saw limited action during Friday night’s game, but it was all he needed to find the end zone. Agina scored the Apache’s fourth touchdown of the game in the second quarter, as he peeled off a 21-yard touchdown run. Defense put up points too against the Coyotes. A pick-six by Sanger High junior Gabriel Morales in the second quarter helped give the Apache’s a 45-7 lead at halftime. After Collazo, Sanger’s second highest scorer on Friday night was sopho- more Izaiah Romero. The Apache’s kicker went 8-for-8 on point-after-tries and tacked on a 30-yard field goal to account for 11 of his team’s points. Sanger also used a bal- anced attack in the run, with seven Apaches car- rying the ball. Sophomore Fernando Gonzalez led all backs in rushing with 82 yards on five carries. “We get a lot of guys involved,” said Pena of his offense. “It’s proven to be something that’s worked over the year.” On defense, junior Ga- briel Olmos finished with eight tackles, two sacks and a blocked put for the Apaches.
