Staff Report
A 32-year-old Reedley man was killed Jan. 7 after he was ejected from his car in a single vehicle crash north of Reedley.
According to the California Highway Pa- trol, Margarito Campos-Ruano was driving east on Goodfellow Road at Rio Vista Avenue shortly before 10:45 p.m. when his 2003 Pontiac drifted onto the gravel shoulder. After overcor- recting, Campos-Ruano lost control of the ve- hicle and crashed into a chain link fence before overturning several times.
Campos-Ruano — who the CHP said was not wearing a seatbelt — was ejected from the car and suffered fatal injuries. CHP officials said it’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident. The crash was still un- der investigation on Jan. 8.
It was the second death of a Reedley driv- er in a week’s span since New Year’s Eve. On Dec. 31, 28-year-old Carlos Perez Ramirez died from injuries suffered in a collision with an- other vehicle near Buttonwillow and Huntsman avenues.

The stolen vehicle oc- curred in the 100 block of West Manning Avenue some- time between the afternoon of New Year’s Eve and the afternoon of New Year’s Day, according to Det. Sgt. John Cates. A 1998 Honda Civic
had been parked in the alley way of an apartment complex near the corner of Manning and Frankwood avenues when it went missing, Cates said.
Investigators checked video surveillance cameras at the apartment and nearby
area but were unable to iden- tify a suspect, Cates said. The car had not been recovered as of Jan. 9.
The first vehicle break- in occurred Jan. 3, when the
